Just use incognito mode if you don't want your history to be retained, it's standard in both firefox/chrome, and probably IE but please don't use IE, ever. Why use a lock when the best security is having no record of you visiting a site.

Because I have also Bookmarked a lot of dark pages for the others to handle when they check them......
So yeah, erasing the history do nothing in reality.

You seriously save your dark secrets? Egh, I'd never imagine doing that, you keep it all in Incognito Mode. Doing the extra effort to pull up sites and find specific videos is worth eliminating that potential of being found out when you're not doing the deed.

Another idea is to hide the Chrome shortcut (maybe put it on a Flash drive) and pretend you use Firefox or Opera as your main browsers, that way people who want to use the Internet won't go out of their way to download or open Chrome and just hit Firefox. However, if someone is adament on downloading Chrome and finds it already installed and filled with your stuff, that's your fault.

And maybe Chrome account stuff. I don't know how it works, does it save favorites to your account and not to a blank slate? Try it, and log yourself out everytime you close it, then log back in when you want to use your discriminating bookmarks.

Or look on the Chrome Store, find some sort of custom Favorite bars. Disable in browsing, but enable it in Incognito Mode, and then use it there without anyone finding it -- unless they themselves open Incognito Mode...

We're working around a problem instead of eliminating problems! Just delete your bookmarks, commit them to memory, and never worry about it again because you go Incognito!

Use incognito mode? Just open up a small .txt file and note down all of "your dark secrets" in there. Then hide the file in a personal folder on your computer or something. I don't think this means locking out a web browser. =D

Hate the people who use Chrome, not Chrome itself, fledgling dark one. =P

Yep. I have a WHOLE collection of Bookmarked pages only for my enjoyment. Never feared before........but I think is time to hide them. Too Risky to be Hardcore to your days....

If everything fails from the above solutions you said, I was thinking to save my bookmarked pages in one of the files I have in my PC and then delete All the bookmarked pages. This sound safer.
The only problem I have is where are the bookmarked pages in my PC?

Download Firefox. Hide the Chrome shortcut somewhere. Anyone who uses the computer without permission will default to Firefox, since it is sitting right there on the desktop.

Somewhere in the Chrome directory, though I doubt they are in plain text or something. You can still export the bookmarks - go to the menu thingie to the right of the URL bar (looks like a list, I think, for some reason), then Bookmarks, then Bookmarks Manager (or just press Ctrl+Shift+O) - in there, click on the Organise dropdown menu (under the search bar) and choose "Export bookmarks to an HTML file..." and you're ready - you'll have all your bookmarks and they'll be easy to open, as they'll be all links. You can now hide that file away somewhere. You can also import it into Chrome, if you wish, just don't forget to export it and wipe the history when you're done, if you want more security.

Easy, don't let other people use your computer. Or conversely, don't do shady shit on other people's computers.

Easier solution to saving your whole browser settings:

Go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

Rename Default folder to Default1.

Start Chrome

Chrome is clean as the day you installed it. When you friends leave. Go back, delete the new Default folder Chrome made and rename your Default1 back to Default.

This is as secure as it gets, unless your friends/family are gonna go digging into your program settings and rename folders. I take it they're not so smart.

Eh. Best I can come up with is to enable the 'guest' account on your system, and lock your personal account with a password.

It won't prevent people from randomly using your computer when you're already using it, but it will stop random people using your computer in ways you don't approve of when you're not there.

Just make sure chrome is set up for multiple user profiles, and there won't be any bookmarks at all for the guest account to see...
