My dad just gave me the Play & Charge kit and I can plug it to my PC and charge the controller.
But, I wondered if I can play with it on my PC, is it even possible?

There is. Look it up on the Internet, there will be a third party who created the port for it.

If not, then sue me.

I Never knew I could do that sooo.. I wouldn't know!

I think there should be some kind of third-party driver. Or maybe I'm thinking of that Xbox controller made for PCs.

I'd change the title of this thread, if I were you. Nearly choked on my tea when I read it.

I'm not sure about the Plug in and Play set, but with a wired 360 controller all I had to do was plug it in, wait while my computer installed the drivers, then configured the joypad on the program I was using.

Yea, it works.
You need to download software for it to work from Microsoft's site.

Easy as that. And quite useful.

You can't do it with a play and charge kit, that doesn't have the USB data pins wired up, it just transfers power.

You need either the RF receiver dongle for the wireless controller or a wired Xbox controller, then it will work.

Not with a wireless controller. The controller must be fully wired. IE have the wire in it from the get go. There is a driver to download to use a fully wired xbox 360 controller on a PC but for the Wireless ones you need an extra peripheral so that the PC can pick up the wireless signal. So in short when you use a play and charge kit the controller still works by the wireless signal and not by the actually charging wire itself. So if you insist on using the wireless controller you will need to buy the peripheral and download the driver which can be found by googling,

It is quite the rip off to buy the peripheral though in some places. If you are dead set on it and when you get the money by all means buy it. I however, would recommend you go and find an actual PC controller with more input options if you are dead set on using a controller for PC gaming.

Yeah this is your best shot.(The Above mentioned)

The controller you got should of had somewhere on the casing that it would be PC acceptible or not. Otherwise you'd have to check online for a possible more than likely unoffical program to run it on.

Wireless 360 controller needs: PC - wireless 360 receiver
Wired 360 controller needs: nothing, plug it in

The charge kit will NOT send data to your PC, you either need a wireless controller with a receiver or a wired controller.

You can just plug a wired 360 controller into a USB slot, and if you're running vista or Win7 then it'll automatically pick it up. For wired controllers, there is a little receiver that you can buy that'll do the same thing for wireless controllers.

As far as I am aware, PS3 controllers can be used in the same way, but you'll probably need to hunt for drivers for it.
