I've just been looking on my computer and i have used 104GB worth of memory on games downloaded from steam and my laptop now has 4GB remaining.

So I was wondering this, would it be possible to put the games I've downloaded from Steam onto an external hard drive? I was wondering if I could do this then simply plug it in when I want to play the games? Or would I have to resort to deleting games to free up memory?

Could anyone post a comment letting me know how to do this if its possible at all? It would be much appreciated! Thanks Guys x

That's entirely possible.

Copy your entire steam folder over to your external hardrive. Delete the 'clientregistry.blob' file in the Steam folder and then run the executable, Steam should update for a short while and then you should be able to use it fine.

Double click the .exe, as in when you have copied over the games, simply click 'Tf2.exe' or whatever in your Team Fortress 2 folder in your External Hard drive, Steam will then detect the game is now located on the external as opposed to your Laptops Hard Drive.
