I never leave anything that can go bad, like food, laying around. Thats horrible. But, I do have a leaning tower of clothes atm. Usually just... stuff accumulates. Art stuff, papers, new things that dont have a place yet. My bed room is the messiest, the main room is less messy. the kitchen is messy except for the floor. The bathroom is the cleanest place for no one "lives" in the bathroom. My chinchilla cages are cleaned much more often than my own home.
I've always liked my living space clean but lately due to a lack of proper storage and shelving my belongings have been left scattered all over my room until I can finally organize a decent cabinet for it all. (Thankfully, It shouldn't be far off now).
Well I'd say it's neater than the average teenager's room, but still unsatisfactory by my standards. I haven't dusted in ages, mostly because I have too much stuff that I'd have to move to get to the furniture underneath. It's just such a bother...then it just gets dusty again anyway in less than a week. I always usually make my bed though and am generally able to keep everything where it belongs, but I'm rapidly running out of places to put the new figures/plushes that I keep collecting. I never leave trash or dishes around. My main problem is all the junk food I have stashed in here. I could live off it for a week at least, though that would be terribly unhealthy, so I've vowed not to buy any more chips or candy until it's gone.

My appartment is reasonably clean.
It's pretty organized, but books tend to creep in and huddle up in small stacks next to the couch, wich is the reason I bought bookcase #3 last december and it's half full already.
Overall it's just a bit dusty, but that is mainly a problem with my hearing. For me vacuum cleaners produce the noise equivalent of a starting jet engine in hell. Earplugs do work a bit, but those mess up my balance for a reason.
