How come this seems to have happened to everyone except me?

Mine is fine, it RRoD'd once, but I just opened a window to let some cold air in, left it for an hour and it sorted itself out. No problems since then and it's one of the old ones, I'm thinking of getting an Elite some day, though.

i have no idea what the failure rate is for ps3 but mine has lasted 4 years now. i got one of the early versions that had 40gb HDD. and just upgraded the HDD to 320 gb.

oh dear does that mean it´s going to die after a week ?

why couldn't they make the 360 as sturdy as its granddad Xbox? I mean, THAT was the raw spawn of Microsoft that could endure the harshest of punishments. I once dropped it, from a height that would surely be the death of a 360, and i just plugged it in without any problem what so ever....+ I could play Conker: Live & Reloaded with it...awesome days

I think my 360 is cursed or something because just about a month ago my 360 succumbed to the red ring plague and somehow came back from the dead in perfect working condition after a few attempts to make it work.

In the past, I've had either 4 or 5 diff. Xbox's until i finally wasn't able to replace the old one and future shop just gave me a free Xbox "Slim" (and 2 free games).

I don't actually own an XBox, but I've had a friend who has owned about 4 Xbox consoles, but not a single one has actually broken. Basically he has one for everyone in his family.

Seems a bit pointless but if none have broken, he must have some good luck!

I have had RRoD twice, but both times the console has behaved after being turned off and restarted.

My Xbox 360 lasted ages. Never gave me any grief.

Then one day it red ringed.

And I broked it with a hammer :(
okay so lets be clear are you saying it red ringed so you broke it or you were in such a rush trying to open it up and check the insides you grabbed the wronkg tool but went with it anyway

Mine is still working fine, though it froze a few times while playing Fallout: New Vegas.

I'm on my 4th DS, though.

I've had mine for 2 years, and it red ringed only once about half a year into owning it. It red ringed when I was playing in a modded lobby of MW2. All I had to do was turn it off and on. Now I avoid modded lobbies.

How long the Xbox last is almost entirely dependent of airflow, they need to suck like a tornado to avoid overheating, mine worked perfectly for 3 years, as soon as i put it on a shelf with other things it overheated. Most entertainment centers are a death sentence for the damn things

I had mine for a few years before it RROD'd. I have the new model now and have had no problems with it so far. (touch wood)
