I don't know if that's worded correctly because I'm suffering from an intense jet lag.

Anyways, I ask this because for the past five days, I haven't had a proper internet connection. Now, before this, I always spent a lot of time on the computer and surfing the net doing random stuff that I can't even remember half of it. I've always thought being without internet would be terrible and I didn't even think about it. So now, I've been able to stay busy enough to not even check my email and such and it hasn't bothered me the slightest bit. But then I think of my friend who said not having internet at her house was hell, and that she was incrediably bored without it.

So, I ask you guys; how depedant are you on the internet?

Pretty dependent.

I have no RL friends and the Escapist has led me to actually having friends and social interaction.

Plus, without the internet, I never would have discovered the greatest fucking band of all time:

I do not watch television, so this is my giant news source. Plus, all my non-guitar entertainment is on here.

I am extremely dependant on the internet. Last month I lost it for an entire week because the modem decided to stop working. I nearly went insane, more so.

It's the only contact I really have with my boyfriend, one of my best friends, and my brothers, plus The Escapist. So... yeah. I hate not having it when I lose it.

I love it but it wont bother me too much if it was gone for a few days.
Agreed, depending on how busy I am during that time. Two weeks ago I spent 3 days in Pittsburgh and didn't miss it at all. My sister even let me use her laptop at the hotel, and literally within 40 seconds - after checking the news headlines and seeing if I had any Twitter updates - I couldn't think of anything else to check. Not when there were local news channels and unanticipated cable channels to check out.

Plus, we went to that mall and graveyard where they filmed Night and Dawn of the Living Dead. So if I'm nerd-distracted, I can go without the Internet for some time.

Pretty much dependent on it. This is my main source of entertainment, given my lack of transportation. So I get a bit twitchy when I go without it for an extended period.

However, if there is something that can hold my attention long enough, I can do okay without it. But once it goes away...

Pretty dependent. I mean, I don't need it for a job, or a degree. But it's a great diversion. Perhaps even my primary diversion.

I could go without it if I were kept occupied by other things though.

Completely since school started, because so much of the info we need is online. If you don't count school then I would say very little dependency. It's fun and all, but t.v. and videogames still can entertain me. And if that stops being fun I can always read through the entire collection of Calvin and Hobbes. Partly for nostalgia and partly for the fact it is still freaking sweet.

I can live without it. When it comes down to it, I really only need the internet for checking my email accounts and doing schoolwork. I don't use social networking, I'm not particularly addicted to any online games, and while forums are nice, there are other ways I can entertain myself. Without the internet, I'd just read more, play bass, listen to music, sleep, bake, write, draw...just do stuff that I usually do. Except I'd have more time for it.

Been forced into dependency---one of my classes even uses an e-book for its text. And I'd fail all my classes if I couldn't use the university "WebCollege" to submit all my assignments and papers. Plus all my bills are paid online and paperless---so's my bank statement and credit card bill. And Steam for games...

Which is too bad because I HATE THE FUCKING INTERNET. If a giant EMP wiped out all forms of online communication (and since we're talking pie-in-the-sky, there'd be some way for me to get my games offline), I wouldn't feel like I was missing anything. I'm old enough to remember when things were done the old-fashioned way.

Very, very dependent. It's how I get all of my school work done and how I watch all my anime. Without it, I would have a very sad life.
