So after wasting 20 minutes looking through the shops for "Griffin Bait" in Dragon's Dogma today I checked the wiki in annoyance to see what random shop must sell this mystical bait I must have missed before the quest.

What? You pick up and place one of the dead Goblins all around that area and use that as bait? Ohhhhh... I'm fucking dumb DX

In my defence, I hadn't played that game in months and I forgot that it is actually a smart game in places. Especially where quests are involved.

Also up for debate is how I failed to grasp the concept of two way portals in Portal.

"So you can go through the orange portal and come out the blue one? No you can only ever enter the blue one. The orange one is one way obviously"

So any similar moments where you completely zoned out and just... Made you want to slap yourself for being so stupid?

In final fantasy 6, in Cyan's dream there is a section where you end up going in a big circle. In 7th grade my friend and I went around like 20 times, then finally tried going the other way back through the door we just entered.

At the time we were super excited and couldn't wait to go see what that magicite we spotted briefly was. Alexander ftw.

During my very first ever visit to Anor Londo, I could not for the life of me figure out how to get across the chasm to the castle. After an hour of running around, I just randomly started moving along whatever I could. Narrow platforms, small ledges, anything you can walk on. Turns out that you have to run up the building into the church and cross the ceiling there, and then you can get to the castle. Very clever use of scenery on From's part. Confusing as shit for anyone who doesn't know, though. I remember way back when, that tripped people up so hard.

Oh god i have a few of these.

Couldn't find the key to open the undead Asylum in Dark Soul's for hours despite it being placed in plain few at the start.

Got lost in Halo:Combat Evolved on the mission 343_Guilty_spark when inside the installation where you first encounter the flood as that place was like a maze. Took me a month to get through it.

I couldn't beat the last Ratchet and Clank game because to this day i don't know how to reach the space station protected by the green lasers when in your space ship.

and there are loads more in the back of my mind somewhere.

Most recent one would've been in BF3 when I'd just been destroying the enemies all over the map that I ran out of my gun's ammo and an enemy squad walked past me. Just sat there thinking "well now what..."

Then I realized I still had my pistol and a knife. Things went pretty good from there.

I didn't know where the first blacksmith in Dark Souls was (or even that there was a blacksmith) until I checked the wiki. He's not actually that hard to find, but early in the game I was very wary of taking risks, even against the three Hollows at the entrance to his building.

I failed to realize that you're supposed to make Yorda stand in front of the magical doors in Ico. Spent a good five minutes running around the first chamber leading her by the hand and hitting her with a stick.

The awkward moment when you spend 20 minutes jumping against a side of a mountain trying to get to a Vista, only to realise there are stairs on the other side.
Just something I did in Guild Wars 2 earlier.

That area with the invisible floor in Dark souls . I stood on the edge of that mountain for an hour trying to figure out where to go . I litterally sat right infront of where i was suppose to walk across . That's when i noticed the snowflakes hitting the invisible floor . In my defense , there is NO WAY to know that , and you have to be looking for it to find it , it's all in the details.

You know how in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City how Batman has the explosive gel? I played through most games several times, but it wasn't until I used the gel as Robin in Haley Quinn's Revenge, where he sprays it in a 'R' shape, did I suddenly realise that this:

Was suppose to be a bat.

Apparently it was obvious to everyone else.

Most recently in God of War 2. A replay after a long time away, mind you. Two statues with shields, to be used to block a statue's eye beams and overload it. One slides across the walkway easily. The other one is stuck in a floor depression, only able to be placed on a lift at the back controllable by a lever on the other side of the depression.

What are you supposed to do? Put it on the lift, use the lever to raise the lift up, jump onto the lift before it reaches the top. Grab the statue while facing the way out, then hold X to kick the statue off the lift and across the floor depression. This move is never explained or used again.

Now I'm feeling a floor depression.

Oh man, the same thing happened to me!

Aside from that, when I played Ocarina of Time for the first time, I got stuck in the Great Deku Tree. I had absolutely no idea what to do, so I just ran around and killed spiders. Finally, I gave up, and looked it up in a walkthrough. It turns out all you had to do was jump through the spider web from a height. I felt so silly after that.
