I just looked around a lot of profiles recently and on a lot of the I saw some badge regarding Zero Punctuation or Extra Credits. So that made me wonder. Did they discover the Escapist due to ZP or EC ? For me I first found the Escapist when I was watching some review on youtube and saw a ZP review. After watching like 10 of them and almost dying of laughter I decided to check out the site and that's how I discovered it.

So, my fellow Escapists, how did you first find out about this site ?

A long while ago, there was a very angry Gamestop employee who used Yahtzee's video style to rant about Gamestop on Youtube.
He got a lot of flack for it, so just out of curiosity, I decided to check out the videos he was supposedly "ripping off".

So yeah, it was ZP that got me into this site.

Like everyone else,I was introduced through Zero punctuation (MoH: Airborne was the first review I saw, back when it was new). My friends showed me it during a lunch break during high school and each wednesday during lunch (when new ones come out in the eastern US) we'd watch it.

And lo, Daystar did descend from his celestial starship and enveloped the escapist with his aura, turning what was wasteland into the fine place you see today.

I've been on the site since 2007, being brought here by a ZP video.

Not sure why I waited so long to make an account...

My ex showed the site to me and showed me ZP. I didn't notice the forums for a long time. I lurked for a while before deciding to join. Now I'm here almost all day everyday!

I actually looked up Daystar Clarion as a username after reading Symphony of Ages, so in a way Daystar brought me here. I did however disregard the website before finding ZP, then I came back.

Link to a thread here from MMORPG.com forums back in ought 8'. Initially I didn't register here because all the threads were full of "this user received a warning," "this user was suspended," and I thought- no thanks.

I was looking at some Zero Punctuation on Youtube and then I just followed the link here. I've enjoyed coming her ever since.

This is so weird as most of us were bought here by ZP, so if the Escapists wouldn't have had Yahtzee most of us wouldn't have knew about this site. So thanks, ZP.

Mine was very simple. When Skyrim came out, I was looking around on google for an answer to a question I had, found a thread on the Escapist. Realised I wasn't and have never been apart of a video game forum/community before, so I decided 'what the hell', and joined up. There you have it.

My ex-boyfriend showed me ZP back in 2008 and I've been coming here ever since.
I was a chronic lurker for quite some time.

I used to watch Unforgotten Realms regularly so when it came here I followed
Fun series that was. Seems like everyone else came because of ZP

I was about to say Zero Punctuation, but then I read your post and remembered I watched those videos first, jeez there were about 10 of them, and they were really long too, and all the comments were either "What you're saying is absolutely true well done!" or "You suck you copied Yahtzee Bawwww!". So... standard Youtube comments I suppose.

For me, I discovered it through finding out about Zero Punctuation. I think it was through a friend or through Youtube perhaps, I can't remember.

After that, I browsed and lurked for awhile and watched some of the other Escapist content and then eventually joined the site.

Found the site in Januray 2009 (because of Yatzee, duh). Didn't care for forums much back then, so I didn't make an account until two months later when march mayham begun.

It's interesting because I know those videos led me to this site, but I don't remember how I found those videos in the first place.
I don't normally visit Youtube, I never have. I think it was some news story on G4. Back when G4 was still about video games.

I came to talk about Fallout 3.
Yeah, I was linked to a Fallout 3 thread by Fat Man Spoon, I joined up, got hooked into FGs and here I am now.

Kind of.

- Heard about some dude called Yahtzee while on a forum, specifically his L4D review.

- Found his old videos on Youtube, one of which said, "I'm going to the Escapist."

- Followed the trail here. (Current video at the time was Scribblenauts.)

- Went on massive archive binge.

- Laughed until my belly hurt.

- Signed up for an account.

... and the rest, as they say, is history.

I say the same thing whenever anyone made a thread like this, one word, Yatzee.
Sure I was there at the start when Yatzee started working for this site but I lurk a while until I sign up years later.
