I didn't like it at all. If you take away the special effects there´s absolutely nothing that´s original or new. A constructed, predictable mess.

Like I had just watched Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
Seriously, anyone who knows what I'm talking about will take a short pause here to agree. Not that it's a bad thing, though.

Blah, I think this is the best movie I had ever seen. So what if the story is bland and predictable, it`s about how well done the film was. I know I`m not the only one! To all haters, we all know how fine and dandy is to criticize other`s HARD work. Try to do at least half of it and then you can call yourself worthy of criticizing. I know I`m going to get a lot of "boos" about this, but forgive me, I just cannot sit aside doing nothing about it. Thanks to all that appreciated the film.

this is what bothers me. effort does NOT equal quality. i could take all semester to force feed various animals a proper diet to get each of their feces smelling like a different kind of flower, then spread each on a piece of paper and turn it in as a final paper...but i will have still given the teacher a bunch of shit smeared on paper

I felt good. Like I usually do after seeing a very well executed movie with a story so predictable I knew it about half way through. Nothing really special but, as I said, it was well executed, good settings and good battle scenes.

I saw district 9 on DVD and then went to see Avatar later that day, I spent the rest of the day with my faith in humanity completly destroyed.

I'm better now though.

Seriously, I know people say "So what if Avatar's story is used and abused? It was still a good film!" But I say, I don't care, a good solid original story would have made a whole lot better. District 9 proved this.
I call BS on that.
District 9 wasn't any more original then Avatar.
They both took well used themes and characterizations and they both flowed them into a story in a fresh, fun, and down right entertaining way. I really enjoyed both movies (Though I confess I enjoyed District 9 a bit more because of the "exploding people" guns).
If you're saying District 9 was original because it talked about social justice and interracial empathy using aliens in South Africa, then I can say Avatar was original because it talked about environmentalism, interracial empathy, and the best of humanity VS the worst of humanity using aliens on a distant planet.

Not original, but fresh and awesome.
That goes for both films.
Then I feel District 9's story was much more "fresh" than Avatar's. The tragic hero story was just too washed for me. I read Comics, play videogames and watch too many shows to be wowed by anything it had to offer. But D9 took the story home, in a way that I've not seen very often./my opinion

they wouldn't, but that doesn't take away the amount of fun I had watching it.

EDIT: sorry about the double post.

Oh god, people, we KNOW the story is like dancing with wolves. To quote Moviebob: "Saying the story is like dancing with wolves doesn't make you clever." Also, the story may be done a few times, but it is TOLD extremely well, and that is eventually what matters. And btw, peopel keep saying: "If you take away the special effects there won't be anything behind it." That may or may not be so, but you should look at it how it is, with special effect and all, else you will get a whole wrong image, because it is a film WITH special effects, adn not without it.

To answer OP's question: I was still in that whole scene, I bumped into everything in the theather XD

Calling in for another "District 9 fucking rocked" vote.

Originality with great visuals > tired plot with amazing visuals.
