Because today was the first time I had posted in the forums, (I had just lurked before then,) I started thinking back to when I first found the Escapist. If I remember correctly, I first found it when someone on a different gaming forum linked to one of the quizzes here. (I love me some quizzes.)
I thought it would be interesting to see how other people found it.
How did you find this website? Did a friend show you it? Did you find it on Google? Did you find it from YouTube (For example, Yahtzee's videos?)
Sorry for the rambling, and I hope you all find this interesting. :)

Someone showed me one of Yahtzee's videos. And then I explored the rest of the site.

I just started playing Skyrim for the first time, googled some shit about it, found a thread on here, realised I'd never actually been a part of a game forum before and decided to join. Really that simple.

I can't really remember when I started visiting, I know it was to do with Yahtzee though, I'd been watching his videos long before I joined the forums.
I remember finally deciding to join the forums because I was very ill and couldn't get out of bed and wanted something to do and people to talk to.

I was searching up youtube videos about fable to decide whether or not to get it, found Yahtzee's review and that eventually led me here. I think a good portion of the escapist community would have come from Yahtzee aswell.

I wonder how long most people go without posting? I know for me it was about a year.

A Youtube Let's Player I followed mentioned Zero Punctuation and I was curious, so I checked it out. I lurked for quite a bit (about eight months from first ZP video to account creation I think) and then I joined because the forums seemed cool and I wanted to talk to people and what-have-you.

Also, according to my Posts section of my profile, I made my first post the day before my account was created. Huh.

A friend of mine showed me Unforgotten Realms and I came here to watch more of it. I probably didn't end up making an account for nearly a year after first coming here. After that I didn't start posting for about a month.

I seen yahtzees fable review on YouTube, Subscribed, And a while later he uploaded a video announcing he was now producing videos for the escapist so I went over to watch them and found whats become one of my favourite sites. I still remember the first video I watched on here..I'm too lazy to check what it was called but it was him reviewing a game about some chick with massive swords and massive hair..

I happened across a few of Yahtzee's videos a few times, and figured I'd look up the rest, as they were quite amusing. The rest, as they say, is history.

I think you'll find most people found it through Zero Punctuation (or possibly through watching Extra Credits).

Anyway, my friends watch Zero Punctuation, so I started watching that & Extra Credits then lurked the comments.

Like most others, a friend showed me Zero Punctuation.
Not long after that I was having some pc trouble so made an account to ask the enlightened fellows here for some help and I've never left!

Well, I watched a couple of Zero Punctuation's on Youtube and then I found out that he has more videos here. From there I then moved on to other things, like these forums.

Exactly my story, I used to only come for yahtzee, then I slowly expanded my repertoire into escape to the movies, no right answer, etc etc.

This article right here I believe from all the way back in 2006. Hard to believe I've been visiting this website for around six years now, still remember when it actually was an internet based magazine where I'd receive 'issues' in my email every so often.

Do they still do that? I'm not sure.
