I've been wondering how everyone here found this site all day long. So, how did you find this place?

I personally was led here by yahtzee's review of minecraft back when it was all I could think about. I was hooked on the zero punctuation reviews for a while then delved deeper. I have not left since.

captcha: Heart strings

The almost psychic captcha system also helped hook me.

Quite a long time ago I was debating whether or not I wanted to buy fable, low and behold I fount yahtzee's "review". You can probably take an accurate guess from there.

I actually discovered it through the podcasts. Was searching one day, probably through the horrible iTunes interface, and found an up-to-date podcast that had decent reviews. Downloaded a few, then downloaded them all. Been hooked ever since and now I'm visiting the site every day.

And as much as I love ZP, for once I'm glad it wasn't that which brought me here.

There was a giant thread way back when, for March Madness or whatever on the website I most frequented. Now, years later, you're stuck with me!

I found the Escapist via Yahtzee. And my eye then turned to the community and saw how good all you guys are, so I said, "Hell, why not?" and joined. I don't regret anything.

It's a funny story involving fan-favorite celebrities Jim Sterling and Gavin Dunne, with cameos by Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, and Ellen DeGeneres, in which we go on a raucous cross-country trip in a van, having wacky adventures along the way. Roger Ebert says, "I've never seen such a heartwarming film as this; I laughed, I cried, and when the lights signaled the end I applauded with tears of joy staining my cheeks." MovieBob lists it as his favorite film of all time, simultaneously transcending all of his expectations about low-budget films and road-trip humor!

Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw criticized the video-game adaptation, an epic action-RPG-open world-adventure-racing-shooter hybrid, for being too short, clocking in at just over 200-hours long and featuring voice talent from the cast of the film itself.

ZP like so many other escapists

I noticed the "popular forum topics" bar on the side and lurked occasionally; eventually I was pulled out of lurking by a certain religion and politics thread (oh God R&P... never again!)

A friend told me to check out ZP. I that was around September of 2010, and I've been here ever since.

Like probably 99% of the people here, it was because of ZP.
I found ZP through a wiki article on the reception of Prototype and the competition Ben proposed to the developers of Prototype and Infamous. That is how I discovered ZP and in turn the Escapist.

Though through means unknown and beyond my memory I stumbled upon his youtube video announcing his move to the Escapist years before I rediscovered him.

ZP. Just like almost everyone else. Noticed that the site layout was just pure amazing and stayed every since. Seriously, whoever created the layout is a god.

Someone linked me a Loading Ready Run sketch, noticed the credits mentioned "The Escapist" and folloed through.

HA! Bucking the trend!

Captcha: tall story.
You calling me a liar captcha?!

Yahtzee probably brought in, like, 90% of the people here. I am one of them. I watched the Portal video first (that was the Orange Box one, in fact) because of the quote I saw on TVTropes (the forks and eyeballs one) - I thought if funny, so I watched the video. Then I decided that I had time to kill, so I watched some more videos to get a better background on him. And that was some time in late-ish 2010/early-ish 2011, I think. Or middle-ish 2011 at most. After I finished ZP, I decided to check out that "Unskippable" that apparently had crossover episodes with ZP once. I checked it out and it was pretty cool. In one of the Unskippable episodes, Graham and Paul advertised the Loading Ready Run series, so I gave that a try and I laughed my ass off. It is exactly the comedy I like, and it was pretty kickass. And so on and so forth. The Escapist: Come for Yahtzee, stay for the Loading Ready Run crew!

Also, I was actually pleased to find the Jimquisition here. I recall somebody linked some episodes before - the first one (about movies being video games) and...another one of the very first. I can't recall the context, though, but I liked Jim from the beginning. But I lost the links and I wasn't sure what the name of the show was...until I started frequenting the Escapist.

Also ZP. Got here from TVTropes, don't even remember which video it was. Registered to post in a thread, if I recall correctly, about homosexual protagonists in games. That's because I was fresh after a similar thread in the Witcher forums.

I checked out Unskippable after the Halo Wars ZP, then LRR. Became a follower of Shamus Young. And the forums here are the only ones so far which I didn't ragequit after a few months. Might be because I don't go into R&P threads too much. Now don't get me wrong, you get an occasional assholish, offensive or plain stupid post on the Escapist's forums, but they seem to be rare enough to warrant a stay.
