How did you first end up at the escapist?

It all began one lonely night, with me and a remote. I flicked lazily through the channels, fiending for something of interest, and I stumbled upon a replay of an old X-play episode. Said episode featured a review of Oblivion by the one and only Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw. Remembering how interesting and amusing said review was, I decided to browse the vast currents of the internet, searching for more. Eventually I ended up here, and here I have remained ever since.

Saw ZP on X-play back when ZP was just starting out (I think the episode was the Burnout Paradise one, I remember something about a psychotic DJ). After watching some of the episodes on youtube, found out that it was being posted here regularly. I started to watch some of the other videos they had here so I began to frequent the Escapist a bit. Once I found out about the forums though, I started spending a lot of my time on the internet here.

Edit: Holy shit, I'm one of the only people who didn't just watch ZP and stay for everything else.

I accidentally stumbled over the Unskippable series. Knowing that a new one was coming out every monday I more or less had to stay xD Eventually I made an account and started lurking the forums.

Friend linked my the Wii Sports Resort ZP review, and I was hooked. Over time I grew bored of just viewing the neato forums and decided to create an account to contribute back to the people I learned to love.

And while I love both Yathzee and Dr Ashen they're not exactly similar, I guess he meant they both speak with a British accent because yeah, not even close. But just as awesome.

I like many people was lured here by X-Play. Probably the only useful thing they ever did aside from their sketches. Sometimes I miss those days.

I was a regular reader of TVTropes.org, and when they (briefly) had their forums someone linked to the Halo 3 review. I watched every one before it, every one since, read a good amount of his website FullyRamblomatic.com and even that Game Damage nonsense.

But it's nice to get Games Journalism not founded on begging readers to come back and that has thought-provoking articles.

Someone linked me to a ZP video, which i watched. Then, about a month later i rewatched it, saw a forum post i felt compelled to answer, and went from there.

A friend of mine showed me an episode of Zero Punctuation and I started watching every week. I totally forgot what ZP was until I was talking to another friend about Yahtzee and they told me about the Escapist.

If I could be bothered, it'd be interesting to count how many people came here because of ZP. Because I'm one of them too. I didn't really care for the Escapist at first, and only saw it as a way to watch ZP episodes. Wasn't until a couple of months later that I actually bothered to check out the rest of the site.

I was told I sounded just like this dude named "Yahtzee" and I was getting annoyed that someone kept stealing my quotes

so I asked for a link to him

started watching his videos

and now I'm a regular member (if not a most active member)

...oh an a ZP fan just because he sounds so much like me (only he likes CoD and Portal... and he swears I don't... and we have different accents)
