How did you get your partner into gaming?

I don't mean in terms of forcing them to be an avid gamer like you, but in terms of starting to share things you enjoy.

For example she got me into camping often, where I didn't much beforehand.

I'm starting to get her into fun plat-formers, to move onto multiplaying me.

What have you done?

Ummmm Well I asked her if she liked video games and she said yeah, I will always play them with you just please don't get over competitive. So first things first that when you play a game where competition is involved don't blow up if she wins. I mean just ask if she likes games and if not, then thats the final say on the matter.

Implying that we have partners, and that if we had,it wouldn't be precisely due to video games :D

True. I'm definitely not trying to push, or think anyone should. But I don't think it's something to be thrown aside quickly, it takes a while for people to get used to things they are new at. It is just nice to play together, seeing as gaming is something I do often.

One of my ex's played Oblivion when I first got it, and wouldn't let me haha. I had to leave the room, just so I could enjoy my play-through. So like most things there are pros and cons of getting a gaming partner.

Heh, my wife grew up gaming. She doesn't play as much as I do but she's been doing it for just as long. In fact, she was into MTG before I was.

Was on the comp, loading up my daily WoW-auction-house check, figured I'd sneak in a daily or two before breakfast.

The smoking hot creature emerges from my bedroom, clothed in naught but a spare blanket and a curious smile, peeking over my shoulder and saying:
"Hey, that looks fun. What is this?"

God, I love that woman.

I'm fairly certain my wife could finish Ocarina of Time without looking at the TV. I DO know for certain that she can get 100 rings in Sonic one, first level, without looking at the screen.

It was never really an issue for me. Our gaming tastes don't always meet in the middle, but she's at least as big a nerd as I am.

Well, my girl had played games a bit in the past, mostly mario and a couple others like Myst III and Mojo.

I introduced her to Zelda with Wind Waker and she fell in love with it and went on to play all the 3-D titles even buying a Wii for Twilight Princess. We also played the LEGO games together and she eventually started playing Oblivion because she really liked the fantasy environment.

I basically had her play games where the story/setting was something that she'd like in or out of a game and had low/adjustable difficulty levels. It's also important that I only had her play games of very high quality (except LEGO but they're so fun that the lack of polish is excusable).

Now she's played Bioshock, Batman: Arkham Asylum, the uncharted series and more. At this point she is fairly big gamer. She's even all strung out on gamerscore (one of us, one of us . . . ).

I can't really speak for myself, as I have always gamed.

But my brother introduced his wife into gaming with games like Tetris and Bomberman. They didn't need to be puzzle games, they just needed to be 2 player, and preferable simultaneous play or co-op. She like the social aspect of gaming in local multiplayer with friends.

Now we play online with each other, and she also enjoys that. We don't talk on the phone, we all get on XBL and play a game like Halo 3, L4D or Borderlands and chat while gaming. :)

I didn't really have to. She had already played KOTOR and Age of Empires, so she actually got me to play KOTOR. After that, I got her to start playing other games with me, everything ranging from Killzone 2 to Shadow of the Colossus.

I gave her a DS and Pokemon HeartGold. She thought they were cute and proceeded to wipe out other trainers
