I was raised on Yes, Queen, Genesis, Pink Floyd and my all time fave David Bowie to name only a few of the bands I enjoy with my parents.

Yay for The Eels! Although sometimes a bit too depressing when I'm in a jolly mood. 'Daisies of the Galaxy' is defenitely one of the best albums ever! Everyone should at least have a go at it.

My dad likes jazz and my mother old rock like the Beatles, and stuff like Cliff Richard.

They don't seem to have any influence on me. But it really doesn't come down to genres on what I like. I may happen that most of what I like is hard rock or metal, but it varies alot.

The only thing I have enherited from the musical perspective, is instrumental 'talent'. I play piano, guitar and drums. I know, "talent" is so overrated, but I don't have any other words for it -.-.

Don't make it about the genres. A genre is only and observational edition, it's not like you only stick to one genre, unless you are... Stupid? Ye, I think that covers it.

I give entire blame to my parents for making me into a Jim Morrison groupie. One of the first places I visited in France was his grave at Père Lachaise. Classic rock will always make me feel right at home; though my Mom is responsible for my love of Broadway showtunes and ethnic World music.

My brothers listened to a variety of rock music, which heavily influenced my early music likes.
But eventually, I was introduced to other music and gained a liking of most music, but especially Tenacious D - I love comedy rock. What else can I say?

Basically I dont like: Classical - Country - Jazz -

My father and mother introduced me to some great classics. Later on in my life, I discovered my father was a hardcore punk rocker during the punk movement in the UK.

My first Against Me! album was acquired by robbing it from my sister, who had borrowed it from a friend.

A lot of my music (Mainly either the old stuff or the experimantal stuff) is taken from my dad's collection, and I became fond of his tastes in music as a child through groups like The Beatles and Bob Dylan etc.

My mom bought me Led Zeppelin IV one day, out of the blue. That started a lot. She also got me into Tom Petty and Gram Parsons. Bit more on the country side with her, but some good rock music too.

I never really picked up any musical taste from my parents. My dad enjoys a lot of music spanning from '50s to today, and my mom is kind of stuck in the '70s, with some horrible modern mainstream pop in there.

My family hasn't really affected my taste in music, especially considering I like a lot of foreign bands. (Which I'm consistently criticized for. "What are they saying?" and the like.) Most of my English-speaking music is rooted in alternative rock, which none of my family listens to. Also, I'm the only person in my family that hates country for some reason.

My parents affected me in the opposite of what I like my dad likes Conservative talk radio, I immensely dislike the stuff (I hate all forms of propaganda by the way) and my mother liked mainstream pop from the 70's through to the 90's, which I now loathe with a raging passion and instead listen to more indie music or rock/metal.
