It helps if you have a <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.372649-Evil-Smurfs-great-discusion-thread-formely-last-one-to-post-wins-D?page=127#19759305>thread turned chatroom. Also posting about 5-10 posts a day and investing in <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/Catoholics-anonymous>user groups. This can all be summed up by saying being an active member.

Aw man, now you're just teasing me! There's all this hot juicy gossip about me I don't know about?!
I merely reflected upon a couple posts made that maybe your suggestion of a series vivisecting such posts would not be a bad idea.

I got most of my posts from the forum games, commenting on and creating threads.

How did people get such a high post count. Do they argue a lot? Is it from chatting in user groups? Playing forum games?
Nah, arguing gets you put on probation, where you can't post for like a week or a month, & if you do it enough you get banned.

I come here almost every night after dinner & hit "refresh" until I don't see any forum topic I feel like commenting on.

Why actually you care about your post count?
Me too I am a long time, but I don't want to "work" in the Forums just to have many post in my account.

What I don't understand are the people who have been registered on this site for several years and have under 100 posts.
It's even weirder when you see someone who joined in 2009 and just made their first post. What were they doing with the account, to have it for four years and never do anything with it?

Wow, really?

... Well, I suppose that makes sense. Wonder if there's a reason beyond badge cheating.

Oh, I edited the original post. I don't want people being banned testing my random thought.
Probably is really bad for the servers when someone does that.

Most of the people I see with huge post counts are the kind of people who post multiple times in a single thread. Whereas I tend to just post once, and leave. The main reason I do this however is because whenever I do post something either it goes completely ignored or someone replies just to disagree with me and I can never be bothered to start an argument.
I disagree.

I don't think I've ever been on the Forum Games and I really don't post in user groups all that much.

99.99% of my post count is just from being here on off-topic and gaming discussion. Just a big nerd posting a whole lot.
That's all I do too, and I' not even close to that count. Oh well, more power to you.

Forum games and user groups. I've been here almost as long as you with a lot less post than you, probably because i'm not particularly interested in forum games. Unfortunately i'm not part of any user groups, which brings me great sorrow.
Other than that, I post rarely in your average forums. Less frequently than the average, anyway.

Awesome, I knew you guys were here somewhere when I said:

You guys are like, I dunno, coelacanths or giant squids; there's evidence you exist, it's just a rare occasion to see you surface. No, I'll go with Brigadoon as a simile instead, as opposed to comparing you guys to deep ocean dwellers.

Now, if only I could convince someone to grant Troyrich [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/troyrich] for a special badge for creating a post with over 1 million views; the help me find this game thread. He's only made 25 posts and yet is probably personally responsible for a large percentage of the server maintenance because of that massive, epic thread.

This is slightly off topic but I love the edits you made to your avatar. I caught myself staring at it in awe for a few seconds.
Thanks, it changes every season, but the fire always gets the most attention.

I didn't get this far with forum games or really user groups that much. I'm in some, but I mostly use them for roleplay coordination. Wild Wasteland, the Fallout RP, has been a contributor, for sure. The thing with me is that I have a multitude of opinions on things, not to mention wit and humor to convey.

I've always thought it was User Groups. I've got a...non-negligible? count of posts, and I don't really use User Groups at all. Maybe one day.

It's all about not being picky with the threads you respond to. Reply to any thread where you've got something to say.

I would have a lot more if I didn't regularly spend 10 min writing a reply to something, realize that I stopped caring about whatever it was in response to, erase it and go about my business.

Also, if literally EVERY thread I've ever created didn't die with 1-2 replies ._.

Also, I suddenly have 5001 messages, but zero in my inbox.

Imma skerd!

I have no idea.
Well, I had no idea but reading through some of this gave me an answer. You're gonna hit the high-numbers before you know it. That's how it was for me, literally. I had no idea I hit 1000 until I got the page and my that I had 1010, 1020, or so. I was so excited, I was like:
"Oh yeah, I'm playing with the big boys now!"
I don't even no why, except for the badge, nothing special happens.
It's like getting a top comment on youtube, it's nothing special, and it looks sad when you go bragging about it in real life but in the moment, when it's there on the screen, you're like

I find bashing Valve or Praising EA to be very effective. :)

But I get bored and lazy I would have a lot more if I didn't and could be bothered to reply to everyone.

For me it was Forum Games and user groups. Find some forum games you really like and your post count will begin to swell at an alarming rate.

I only post on the OT but I think I am starting to have a good number of posts.

Instead of talking to friends etc I tend to be on the forums.
