I just downloaded and finished the new Kasumi ME 2 DLC.

How do they get away with charging 560 MS Points for something that shallow? Are we supposed to give them a free ride because they give us "Free" DLC by the Cerberus Network?

I'll admit, part of my problem with it could be that I just finished the game twice, second time on Insanity, and completed it, then just loaded my Insanity playthrough immediately before the final mission and went and did the DLC, so I didn't use her much. But it's literally no different than the Zaeed DLC(who I got free for preordering the game, but didn't use at all during the story).

I'd recommend waiting to see if there's any chance of a price drop in the near future before buying it. If you're hardcore into the series, then you'll probably find no problem with it.

Well, you paid for it, you weren't forced to get it. I tend to do a little research before getting DLC for games like Mass Effect.

Next time, hop online and find a review, DLC reviews do exist :)

Spending the money wasn't an issue for me. I'm a completionist; I planned on getting it to complete the game and stow it away until the next DLC.

How do Bioware keep on getting away with releasing fuckloads of DLC when their games have only been out for mere months?

Fuck you Bioware, Fuck You.
It's not a question of how much DLC is released if most of it is useless. New character armor? Yay. Quality over Quantity. You are basically paying $7 for one mission and a sidekick. MOST allies give you two missions, and a sidekick, plus they come in the game. Considering there are, what, 8 allies in the game, that would amount to $56 of the original $60 spent on just the ally missions. Not likely.

Well, then it sounds like you would get anything like that regardless.

Yes. Point being....I'm easily taken advantage of? I won't argue that. I'll argue that I've got the same amount of content, plus more, for other games for the same price tag.

Why couldn't this have just come in the original game?

I'd like to think there's another reason besides "greed".

Same way Activison gets away for charging $15 for 3 new maps and 2 old ones. If the price seems sketchy to you, don't buy it. For me I buy all the DLC I want because I can. I don't care that much if I don't get what I spent because at least the developers, most of them I like, get my money to fund for another game or for more content. It's better than getting nothing.

Because it wasn't made at the time? They had a deadline? I'm not sure myself, but I never said you were being taken advantage of. It just seems rather pointless to rant about something you get no matter what.

Money may be another part of it, after all they are a business and making a game costs a lot of money.

This is an argument I can't win, for it's a matter of opinion and "educated guesses", and even if I am right, it's not like I'm going to change anything. Just looking for someone else to validate that they didn't think it was worth it either.

I guess I'll retire my point.

The Zaeed DLC wasn't even ready at launch.

How could this have POSSIBLY been in the original game, honestly?

How do you even formulate that in your head? Like, what sort of thought processes went into forming that idea?

The Zaeed DLC wasn't ready at launch, and games have to be locked down LONG before launch (months prior to launch in fact) Nothing else can be added to the disc after that time.

And the fact that Bioware didn't charge for Day One DLC was a gift, to you. They didn't have to give it away to people who bought their game new and supported them. It was a gift. Any other company would have charged you for it without thinking twice.

Some people, I just don't get it.

Im a big fan of the Mass Effect series so im probably bias in this discussion. I download the extras to expand my experiance of the game. Fine it probably wont be a huge difference but in a game the encourages multiple playthroughs your gonna get a different and longer experiance. Plus it gives us something to keep us over untill Mass Effect 3.

Well, after a few weeks of playing DA:O, Mass Effect withdrawals hit me and I popped the disc back in, and was happily surprised to find 3 new DLC (Kasumi, the new clothes & the new Mako thing).
So far just started a new game & went straight into Kasumi & her loyalty mission.. and I loved it. For me was worth the few hundred BW points..

Yes ok, she's not fleshed out (similarly Zaeed), but fleshing a character out to match those of the main chaps is very hard.. involves a hell of a lot of dialogue, back story, jokes/wit, emotion, voice acting, TIME and MONEY.
But for what you get in this DL- a cool enough character and a damn fun Loyalty mission (one of my favourites now). I mean, firstly is mixes a nice blend of the Thane/Garrus loyalties of the non-combat approach..., with a lot of combat. You get a lot out of it IMO.
(and god DAMN his house was nice... as the guy in the background says, whoever his architect is is a genius. I would kill for someplace like that!)

I am definitely going to pass on the Kasumi DLC.... I've found with Bioware not all of the DLC is great... look at the DLC for Mass Effect 1....

However, the free Zaeed and Hammerhead DLC is fantastic and I love driving around in the Hammerhead... it's what the Mako should have been!

The real question is how did people feel about the DA: Awakening for 40 bucks? Yes I know it was longer than most games but it still felt like it should have been like 25 bucks or so. It was fun but probably been better had it been a wee bit cheaper.

I haven't got it yet but plan to, so correct me if I'm wrong.

You get:
a new character - and she has a powerful unique ability;
approximately an hours worth of gameplay purely about her;
a new bonus power (which is apparantly very powerful;
a new SMG (again, apparantly very powerful);
some new casual outfits.

I think that's it, which is a healthy amount, but you've gotta remember they have to add dialogue for Kasumi for the entire game, so she's got something to say when squaddies talk. Also, if she's got a similar amount of depth to Zaeed then I'll be happy, he had more than some squaddies and it was more interesting than most. The only trouble being that you can't speak directly to them when on the SR2.

I think $5 would have been a more appropriate price, especially given how much they hyped this up and how little overall content we got. Still, at least now my Shepard can run around the Normandy in a nice dinner dress..
