Hello my fellow escapists this is my first thread so be kind please. :)

My question is this: When you are deciding to choose a game to play, what sort of mental process do you go through to pick it?

I play a part of the game in my head to decide whether I want to play it or not. I do this because it gives a feel of the game to help me choose if I actually want to play it, or if I'll stick it in the drive and then find out that I actually don't want to play it.

I'm quite an indecisive person.

EDIT: I don't think people quite understand me, what I mean is you've already bought the games and you are deciding between two or three, how do you go about picking the one to play?

1st: Concept
2nd: Gameplay
3rd: Story
4th: Graphics.

Don't have enough money to project it in streams at things.

If I hear about it from any source, like the sound of it, I see that I can play it on XP and then away we go.

1. Hear about the concept and the genre and the makers and the platform
2. check a demo if available
3. read reviews
4. decide weather to buy or not

thrust has it down, but a lot of my games I uh... find on the internet cause I'm fairly broke right now so I dabble in a little bit of everything

but legitimately I go with thrusts way, see and get excited, play what gameplay you can, wait til release unless the gameplay was stellar and read reviews, not just one or two but atleast 4 or 5 from diff sites

try to go professional if you can, non pros don't have the support of editors or a company so what they say, while it might be true, could also be very wrong and it will have a lot more personal bias, like a bad expierience with a player or a diff game from the same company.

also talk to your friends, a bad game can be fun it you've got enough people to play with

If its for a game that isn't a sequel or such

1. Wait to see what people say about it and then try it out for myself somehow.
2. If good stuff is heard and I enjoyed playing then buy.

If it is a sequel

1. Did I like the game before that?
2. If yes, buy.
