How do you Design your Saints Row Character?

To me one of the biggest bits of appeal in the Saints Row series (beyond pretty good story, wacky characters and humorous cutscenes) is the fact that your character is your own, and you can go pretty insane with how they look.

But a lot of the advertisements I see for the series seem to go against that. Most of the stuff I've seen for Saints Row 3 show the main character as an athletically built white guy with short brown hair and he just looks really bland to me. (I know they had to show someone as the protagonist, but still)

Do you go for more serious or for more unique with your SR characters? In the first game my character was a slightly overweight guy with spiked purple hair who had as many piercings as physically possible and dressed in a sweat pants and jacket combo.

But in SR2 I made him a little bit more fit and a bit older. he now sports purple dreads, a nice suit and tie with steel toed boots, still as many piercings as he could and because I thought it was funny, a golden halo above his head.

I haven't decided how to spruce him up for SR3 yet, but I was just curious how everyone else sets up their Saints Row character. Do you go for serious or goofy?

Also do you put your person in Saints Row Purple or do you fly a different flag?

Wait, you mean people DON'T run around in a giant hot dog costume as every day normal attire?

Well dang...

I designed mine as an English Gangster (Voiced by Maxwell Sheifield himself) with eye-make up like Alex from A Clockwork Orange and a Top hat.

To be honest though, by the end of the game, I now want to kill him and the saints myself.
They are certainly not Saints and need to be disposed of.

I usually just make myself.

But you know, then I get bored, or my friend comes online and we start, well, dicking around, and you end up with an IRA Member with a ridiculous British Accent who is ridiculously thin and ridiculously muscled, who has a giant foam middle-finger on his hand. And my friend ends up in a Hot Dog Suit running around a mall screaming "DON'T BEAT YOUR MEAT" while I chase him with said foam middle-finger and slap him through a wall or through an expensive Sports Car.

While my Dad watches. Try explaining that to your parents.

So yeah, my Characters are based;
A: On myself
or
B: OH DUDE YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE AWESOME RIGHT NOW

My SR2 character is a bad-ass chick who just happens to like wearing cat ears.

You got a problem with that? D:<

I do purple and black.

I would don one of the suits if they didn't look so awkward, so instead I wear a white office shirt, black pants, and a single stripe, black and purple beanie.

Voice 2 just because it fits more than the others. So I'd say Unique. I suppose.

I pretty much just leave the face and body how they are (can't be stuffed navigating the slider controls) and focus on the dress sense. At the moment my guy is wearing a blue and white striped tuxedo with bowler hat and trooper shades. And he drives a septic truck. And I love him just the way he is.

my dude was a tiny, skinny dude with big, beefy arms....

he had a english accent....

he wore baggy black trousers, a sports jersey, and finger less gloves....

Oh! and he had a zombie face and triple F cup boobs.

i thought he was pretty original.

I made myself, fuddled myself into an all purple tux, and then choose the only correct voice, Male Voice 1.

Dog-fighting biplanes wearing hot dog costumes with your friends online is oddly satisfying.

My characters in any game that gives me enough customisation options are over the top, and usually cross dressers. My feamale characters get the biggest beards that modern graphics can render.

Having said that I havnt played any saints row game beyond half an hour at a friends house with their character, although I am looking forward to Saints Row the Third, which looks like it has everything that i felt GTA4 needed.

I did get saints row 2 in a bundle of about 50 games for $45 on steam yesterday though so ill give it a go!

My Saints Row 2 character ended up looking like Charlie Sheen by the time I'd finished, he even had the same style clothes. At the time it was funny watching a Charlie Sheen look-a-like going on mental drunken, drugged up rampages...now it's just...Charlie Sheen.

Well, the first time I played SR2, I created an Asian woman with all body sliders set to Zero (like what Yahtzee did, according to his Age of Conan - review).

I intended her as a joke character to discard for something more serious once I'd gotten used to the controls, but I was having so much fun that, before I knew it, I was halfway through the game, had aquired infinite rifle ammo - and I simply couldn't work up any enthusiasm whatsoever for the idea of playing Saints Row with a character that didn't look like beef jerky with a pimp hat.

Besides, watching that bony ***** mow down legions of Ronin with a machine gun that looks at least twice her weight, NEVER gets old. I will DEFINITELY be trying to recreate her in SR3.

I have 2, a suave english gangster type with a white double breasted suit with gold buttons and white and gold two-tone shoes.

And an Asian man with a black lady's voice, a huge afro, a white fu man chu, and decked out in mismatched womens clothing.
