I mean I know coffee is supposed to be bitter, but DAMN! That was like the only word I could possibly use to describe it. I'm certainly never trying that particular idea again. Obviously I need to add something or start with a different kind of blend. What do you guys recommend? What's a good starting point?

I drink my coffee black and strong.
Like a man.

...

But if you really don't like coffee, use milk and/or sugar.
Even back when I didn't like coffee, a cup with 5 teaspoons of sugar was awesome.
Oh my, you really are bias to the pure black coffee aren't you ;) Well that is matter of taste. I'll give my biased opinion now ;)
Of course I'm biased towards black coffee.
It's the way to drink it.

How are you otherwise going to put testies on your chest and hair on your eyeballs, huh?

THIS IS JUST HOW I SEE AND DRINK COFFEE
You're wrong though.
Well, it seems accordingly to Jonluw, I am just a shadow of a man.
Yes.
Yes you are.

[HEADING=1]Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhh![/HEADING]
In all seriousness though. I don't mind milk in the coffee. A cappucino is nice now and then. And mixing some hot chocolate with the coffee can be good.

Cafe Americano is literally watered down espresso. American GIs overseas ordered it that way because they weren't used to how strong the espresso was (hence why it's "Americano").
I see.
I always thought it just meant 'black coffee' in annoying hip coffee bar jargon.

This. It's apparently very Norwegian to drink coffee black and strong, according to a mate.
I hear we used to have the highest per capita coffee consumption in the world.
Then Finland came along and beat us...
Damn them.
:( I don't like to be damned :( ... :D
Well, you better get used to it if you plan to keep drinking more coffee than us.
I could say also that "It's apparently very Finnish to drink coffee black and strong" but I can't. Some do, some don't. But what I have noticed is that drinking black coffee seems to be more common with smokers (taste nerves not so sensitive?) and elder people (is that like 'we had hard times in the war and now we can and will' -type of stuff? I don't know.)
It does seem to me that smokers drink more coffee than others.
Dunno why. I think it has something to do with smoking and coffee drinking occurs in related socio... economic groups? Fuck, I can't remember the word. Whatever.

Haha, I'm 25 and I still think that coffee is a 'grown-up' drink.

Which begs the question of - when do we view ourselves as grown ups? The day we sit back with a cup of coffee or we go round someones house and use the phrase 'I'm gasping for a cuppa'?

Nothing beats a Cafe Latte with one sugar. However, when it comes to instant coffee, I'm not a fan.
In Australia, McCafes (McDonalds Cafe) actually make a really, really nice cup of coffee.

That would suggest food and drink preference determines maturity, wouldn't it? ;)

What's your favourite kind of coffee then? I've developed quite the addiction for Friele Frokost Kaffe :3
To be honest, I have no idea what I'm drinking.
I just drink the same stuff my parents make. I guess I can go check what it is...

I'm currently drinking Löfbergs lilla mellanrost.
Some Swedish stuff my parents have taken a liking to.
Weirdly, it's not a press can ground. It's "cooking coffee" (kokekaffe)

If I were to claim something as my favourite kind of coffee though, it'd be Blue java. I haven't actually tasted it, but it smells like heaven. I love to just take a good whiff of the beans when I walk past them in the store. Sadly, I don't have a grinder so I can't really buy it.
Hmm. A friend of mine is trying to convince me to buy a bag of super expensive coffee, dunno the name, but it's like 1,000,000kr/kg. I might try it once, but he's gonna buy it in that case.
It's not fun studying away from home, because I don't have money for proper coffee :(

Just a bit of milk to take the edge off the bitterness. I find it's quite enjoyable that way.

I'd also avoid sugar in it if you're having it with something sweet. They compliment eachother well then.

My new personal favorite is a "quad-shot" of espresso straight. It is 4 shots of espresso condensed into an eighth of a small coffee. It is extremely bitter, but to the point that it is almost sweet. It stains things like all hell though. If you happen to spill it on your hand, it'll be brown there for roughly 2 washings.

Fresh ground, black. Though I do have a micropress too if I'm short for time.

Still cheaper than Neros/Starbucks

Assuming 1 kg of coffee makes 160 cups (which is the case with the coffee I've got standing around), that makes 625,000 kr pr. cup.

Yeah, that doesn't sound very fun.
Are you in university, or are you doing some time in a 'folkehøgskole'?
I'm russ this year and planning to apply for a folkehøgskole for next year. Music. I have no idea what I want to do after that though.

Pretty much what I'm doing then.
Except I've managed to avoid the military, and hope to instead be spending the year just doing music..

I've been trying hard to be picked for service in GSV, so I'm very happy about that. It's gonna be awesome. After that I might study either music, The English language or marketing communication.

At NTNU?
I thought they pretty much only did sciency stuff there.
They teach marketing communication at BI though, right? I think I've got a cousin who studies that.
