How do you feel about dragons?

I'll just echo what everyone else has said here and just say I love dragons WHEN THEY'RE DONE PROPERLY FFS.

1. They need to be at least semi-intelligent.

2. They need to look good. Seriously. I don't wanna talk to some pathetic looking swamp dragon or something.

Neverwinter Nights did all this with a most admirable quality.

As to Skyrim, yes, it's great that they're putting dragons into the game BUT it looks like they're making them into just mindless beasts. NOOOOOOO!!! Now what would be cool is at the end of the game, they could somehow make it to where you could choose to help out the dragons and make a deal with them that is, if Bethesda makes the proper decision of making them, or at least the greater ruling ones, intelligent.

I'm cool with them all. The wyverns with no front legs, just wings, the wyrms with no wings, the classic Western dragon which is mostly bipedal (a little like a Tyrannosaur in the hindquarters), the Eastern dragon with no wings but flying capabilities nonetheless, the D&D style dragon, Puff the Magic Dragon, and everywhere in between. Dragons are pretty nifty in my book.

(I drew this AWESOME dracolich (think a skeleton that belonged to such a powerful mage that it continued existing after death, through sheer force of will, now consider that this skeleton also belonged to a dragon) one time... Have to put it up on the internets at some point...)

I know that.... when I slew my first dragon in Dragon Age: Origins... I truly felt like I slew a dragon. It was no easy task.

That game is so fucking awesome...

...what?

I like the Magic the gathering view sorta (really I just love Nicol Bolas, the scheming bamf that he is), but yeah, I always loved the notion of dragons being the purest representation of Magic and fantasy, a thing (not necessarily creature) that is nigh impossible to find and when you do it is an impossibly imposing and figure of majesty, not just a big nasty that squats in caves and waits for the wary adventurer to pass by to eat him (thats a wyrens turf).

A dragon is something special, don't invoke their awesomeness idly.

I absolutely love Western dragons, but I don't really like Chinese dragons as much. Snakes with wings I just don't find as cool as the awe-inspiring beasts of Western fantasy.
Oriental dragons don't have wings. :)

Dragons:
Greatest. Fantasy. Creature. EVER.

I'm an absolute freak about them, have been since I was in 4th grade or so.

Such versatile creatures in fiction:

I've seen:
-Wise/Enlightened
-Angry
-Unstoppable
-Relenting
-Tame/Tranquil
-Intelligent
-Rash/Arrogant
-Lithe/Sneaky
-Proud/Strong Character
-Deceiving
-Terrifying
-Cute/Curious

And that's well beyond the usual D&D "Lets hide in a cave full of loot waiting for rich assholes to murder me." or the "I kidnap wealthy/pretty women and keep them...because."

They can take on any of the above traits just through creative usage of appearance and action. I know that a clever artist can apply the above to nearly any concept, but dammit, dragons just do it better.

*ahem*
Now that I've had my giddy freakout for the day, I must return to my normal, civilized, rational, and bland self.

...um. Cheerio.

I don't care for them, generally.

When I have to fight them, reason says I probably ought to have no chance to best them and yet I do regularly. This robs them of their power. Alternately, they're used as a deus ex machina far too often across a wide variety of media. This makes them little more than a narrative device. Finally, when dragons take the field, all sense of reason is abandoned and, if the world is not one teeming with magic, their existence is impossible to justify. This makes them silly.

Dragons are awesome. I like all types, although sometimes they are messed up pretty badly.

If they do manage to mess those up, I will be forever sad.

No kidding. I can just imagine them, jaggedly glitching through the bumpmap mountains...

I'm pretty sick of dragons. Yes, they're popular and cool, but like anything else popular and cool, they've been done to death. Games feature them by the legion in every form and hue. Books casually toss in whole cities of the things. With so many, you'd think they'd strip the world bare in the quest for calories to keep their giant hot-blooded monster bodies alive.

It's like Boba Fett: the less you see, the more worthwhile the parts you do are. And dragons are just seen too much.

I think that says it all, man.

I am a HUUUGE fan of Dragons. I see them as great, proud, intelligent creatures. Some can be celf-centered and monstous. Others can be kind and helpful...if a bit short tempered when pestered.

But at all times, they are totally freakin awesome.

Who doesn't like Dragon of the Darkness Flame?

...oh wait. Everybody that Hiei has killed. Well, their vote doesn't count.
