I've recently noticed one of my favorite songs (The outsider by A Perfect Circle) was recently used in a resident evil movie trailer and the video almost immediatly went from 300,000 views to around 1,000,000. So I ask you, how do you feel about this happening to your favorite songs?

It would be like michael jackson before and after he died. Before: Only the original 80's fans that deny his pervertness. After:everyone loves him.

The Modern Warfare 2 trailer with "Till I Collapse" by Eminem made me go out and buy the game.

F'ing Epic.

It can easily make a trailer go from medicore to fantastic. And it gets the band/artist exposure so I really don't see a large downside to it.

It made me squee with all sorts of joy when I heard Muse's "Take a Bow" in the trailer for Watchmen.

Really, as long as the song fits what's going on in the trailer, I find it usually makes me quite happy to hear a song I know.

I was quite happy when I heard Just Like You Imagined by NIN on the 300 trailer. One of my favourite songs.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Gives artists exposure to people who'd probably never heard of their music :)

I have never had one of my favourite songs find itself in a trailer; it's always the other way around. But I do like when songs I like show up in a trailer, such as when a lyric-less "The Bird and the Worm" was used in the official trailer of the Clash of the Titans remake. Hell, the song, "RTK!", and the scorpion tail thing were the only three good things about that trailer, period.

I found one of my favorite songs through a trailer, so I am totally okay with it.
Which song would that be?

I'm mildly annoyed by it. Good music is good music. But it gets annoying when people don't seem to get it and just take it as a flavourless bit of pop culture.

Same here. Great song and it fits really well with the movie.

I really like it when a trailer has some good music in it. Then of course I'm the person who likes to imagine little videos in my head while listening to certain songs ("Take a Bow" is one of those songs).

I hate it when good music is used to make a shit film/game look good.

I try to look behind the epic music to fully understand what i'm looking at. I've found on too many occasions that people will say something looks amazing just because of the soundtrack, then if you take away or replace that music they'll realise they were looking at a turd the whole time.

I don't mind it. The actual video of the content matters far more to me though.

Any song, I really don't care. As long as it's not Lux Aeterna. That has to be the most overused song for anything trying to be epic (granted it's usually only used in fanmade videos but... Bleh!).

Final fantasy 13 had some generic, paceless unfitting song by leona lewis in the UK trailer
so that's an example of how horribly badly wrong putting songs in trailers can go

I rather liked the use of 'mad world' in the gears of war trailer though
but that was before i owned it, and realised the gameplay was nothing like that

I only really care about the execution, and if it's done well.

Though, if one of my genuinely favourite songs is featured in some sort of advertisement, it'll get my attention immediately.
