I really like the fact that not only are people very clued into whatever is under discussion, but most people I've interacted have a great sense of humour, are really helpful if you have questions, and are actually great to hold a conversation with.

The way i see it is if we avoid moral outrage threads this site is awesome. (river+puppie thread) if those threads are closed down and banned this site would be like heaven cept without the rigid moral structure that the priests cant follow, and the inability to bum rape kids.

The nice thing is that when people disagree, they don't flame about it. This isn't entirely true though. I followed on thread about Xbox vs. PS3 and these two people had this really heated argument that got down to petty "i fix'd ur txts" and making fun of each others avatars.

I've also seen a few lurking trolls.

Regardless, I respect the people here who aren't jerks. I like to treat this place as an escape from the "pedestrian" internets. And I can rely on most of the people here to not be a jerk about stuff, even if they are radically different from me.

I certainly wouldn't trust any of them with my life, because I know none of them personally, except for maybe a few but they don't post here often. But I recognize people's names and avatars, and respect the well known escapists like Furburt and MiracleOfSound for having honed their forum posting craft enough to never come off as a jerk.

I imagine that perhaps a few people here may also recognize my name, and the fact that I have no avatar as well. I also imagine that I don't come off as a complete jerk too much either. As long as mutual respect is maintained, I have no problem with any of them. I especially like the people who have posted in my many, short-lived threads. Even my very first one, when I was but a wee "paperboy", and looked like a goon.

I also support any place that encourages correct grammar and punctuation. And spelling. Definitely spelling.

Most of my friends are students of literature, philosophy, history, etc, and my ex-girlfriend and still dear friend, is currently taking her Ph.D. in quantum gravity, so no, I don't come here for deep and profound dialogue in that regard. I do, however, come here for deep and meaningful dialogue concerning video games. Which I believe is the site's raison d'être, as it were, so it's all good.
