So I was playing on this random server when we finally pinned down the other team at their base. The sks is my weapon of choice since it's useful in all instances. I had it equipped, so I decided to snipe down the people at the base with the thing (This is with an RDS). After I'd run out of ammo I walked away to the nearest box and ... BOOM, I was kicked. Really I take it s a compliment these days, but I got to wondering; how do others react to getting banned like this? Do they laugh it off like me?

Today it seems alright to ban anyone for doing "to well" rather then banning them for legitimate reasons. However this is the risk you take when you play on a private server. Theyre like private clubs and if you break their rules then thats it, your gone.

Ive been banned from 3 servers before. One I dont even know why, I assume it was because I armed an MCOM when the server owner was arming the others. After the game I got banned and just said fine. I didnt really like that server anyway. Thats when I started recording my play sessions to analyze and help me improve my own gameplay

My account got banned from anther server when my girlfriend was playing and the reason was "you are a girl". I swiftly contacted the administration of that server with the screen shots of when she was playing and it got removed. I was promised that the admin rights to that person would be removed though I havnt played there since so I dont know if thats happened or not.

The third server Ive been banned from I play a lot on and the same admin and I went back and forth with him banning me and me contacting the admins to provide recordings proving I wasnt cheating/hacking. Since BF3 came out the guy had banned me going on 8 times so far. As I understand it the server owner is intending to remove his admin rights if it happens again

For me, I just tend to want to know why. If I dont get an answer Ill contact the server owners or admin. I try to be reasonable but sometimes its hard to be when the reason you were kicked was going 40 kills and 6 deaths

I've not been banned from much, but the one server on BF3 I was banned from was for profanity, which I found hilarious, considering the game itself, and I wasn't saying anything particularly obscene, didn't drop an F-bomb or any similarly inappropriate word. I said, I believe, "Son of a *****." I looked at the ban, cocked my head, and laughed for a brief minute.

I have only been banned from a single server in my gaming life. It was in 2002 during a game of counterstrike. I had just joined the game at the end of a victory round and purchased a Mac-10 in celebration. The round went poorly in general with only one other person on my side. During normal course of play, I turned around to check if we were being followed only for three people to suddenly fly around the corner. So, doing what came naturally I panic sprayed a burst at them.

All three dropped from headshots in less than a second. My skill may account for one - the other two were entirely accidental. I was kick/banned because, to quote a fantastically terrible film, that sort of luck does not exist. It didn't bother me at all.

The same thing happened to me in bf3.

I was playing fairly well on gulf of oman, and after killing two guys w/ my L85 and capping an objective, banned.

I was also banned for typing "fuck" in counterstrike.

In both cases I laughed as well.

Many clans out there will just rent a server and use it to pub stomp, so if somebody turns up on their turf and starts laying a beat down on their precious k/d, the 'offenders' are shown the door. I figure its pretty similar to the tap on the shoulder in a Vegas casino: if you beat the house, the house throws you out. As an added benefit, their guys are usually immune to the server auto balance as to facilitate team stacking.

The worst petty tyranny I've seen personally was a clan server that "banned mortars" and "banned base rapes", but the home team would rain mortars down on us nonstop while we're pinned in respawn. If one of our guys even so much as tried to counter mortar their mortar guys, they were booted immediately but these clanners had no problem using mortars themselves. Keep in mind this was back when mortars were still over powered and three of them on Metreo could pin down an entire team if not taken care of, and going into a mortar spam fight with none of your own was suicide.

Likewise, many pub stomp clan servers these days will turn a blind eye to their own people using SMAW/RPG 9, M26 Dart or M320 grenades, but will throw a hissy fit and throw you out the moment you start firing back. They'll also have no qualms about team stacking/base raping, but God help you if you snipe one of those guys at their spawn, or you put their primma donna star negative k/d.

Server ratings. Seriously, thumbs up or thumbs down would solve 90% of this crap if getting bellow 2 out of 5 stars for 10,000 ratings yanked a server off of the Battlelog multiplayer list.

I've only been banned once, when I killed an admin with a grenade on Operation Metro. He mistook it for a M320, which had been banned on the server, and instabanned me. I laughed, sent the admin a message asking who banned me,[footnote]There were two admins on at the time, didn't get an answer back.[/footnote] waited for my friend to finish the game, decided between an 8x scope or 12x scope for the M98B and then we went to a different server, joined that and proceeded to be base-raped to fuck. I then decided to put C4 all over a jeep and slam into tanks.

Good times.

Just curious, what map was this on? I don't see spawn camps often but they normally happen for me on Caspian Border, Operation Firestorm and Siene Crossing.

There is an infamous rented server on Battlefield play4free, the guys who run it are absolute tyrants. They only play helicopter maps, and heaven forbid if you decide to use the helicopter instead of them. Instaban!
The rules apply to everyone except the server admin guys, and if you get the upper hand on them in any way during the game they rage at you for hacking and ban you.
I play on it just for the sheer entertainment of insanity. Once we played Oman for about 45 minutes, and never once finished a match because the guy kept resetting the game when it didn't go his way, to the confusion of everyone just joining the server.

Every single match has about 5 bans handed out during it. I was banned once for typing things like "Ya mein Fuhrer" during one particuarly rediculous gaming session, apart from that I've never been banned on any other server.

This was on Operation Metro. I was on the US side at the time, so when we captured the bases I just camped them in one of the buildings.

On a side note I finally upgraded my rig. I was interested in getting BF3 but, hearing a lot of these stories....and EA taking officials servers down... Is it worth it?

I've been banned twice so far (not counting boosting lobbies). I consider myself a "good" player in Battlefield. I get the game (though not as much as before the "vinegar in my eyes" patch).

So yeah, whenever I start using a gun for a longer period of time, I'll eventually become really good with it. I'm generally the person carrying the team. I was getting like ten kills per death, and I guess I finally got on one of the admins nerves. Wasn't using anything besides the M416, but I guess me blowing up a tank with the grenade launcher was the last straw. Got kicked.

The next one which was actually a little bit more funny. It was on Damavand peak, and we were spawn trapped. My team was.... so bad, and I finally got into one of the Scout Helicopters, when in my hands can actually be pretty lethal. Whilst flying, someone spawns in my Helicopter, and I get the "killed by an Admin" sign. I realize this guy is just using the servers as his own personally playground, I thought "You are now going to be my *****". Equipped the Engineer class, and due to the patch thankfully making it a one rocket kill, I went ham. I shot the douchebag down 4 more times to the point of where he kicked me from the server. I rejoined again, and then I shot his helicopter down a fifth time for good measure before he permabanned me from the server.

God damn that was satisfying. I sent him a message saying "That's gotta be some kind of record".

I would say it is. These stories certainly don't represent the norm when it comes to server administration.

I used to get banned all the time when I played Halo: Combat Evolved on the PC.

Basically, I'd kick everyone's ass, and they'd rage and call me an aimbotter and quit.

It started off being annoying, but it was kinda funny after a while.
Eventually I found a server where they sightjacked people who they thought were aimbotting before they kick/banned them, and they realised I was clean, so nobody ever kicked or banned me from that.

Good times.

This. Dear God this. Happened to me last year when I decided to reinstall COD4. First server I joined, ended up running over a 5-1 kdr and was banned, allegedly for hacking. I went and protested it on their servers, and their response was basically, "No, you were hacking, our magical invisible admins said so." Turns out the admins in that clan have a habit of banning everyone who plays better than them, despite "not caring about how high someone's kdr is."

So yeah, if anyone is playing COD4 on the pc, avoid the SWSS servers, because they're more than happy to hit you with the banhammer when their epeen is threatened.
