How do you get yourself motivated...

Homework-wise, I usually have to turn all devices that can connect to the internet off, prepare an entire vat of coffee, and give myself some sort of incentive, e.g. "If I can master trigonometry after finishing all these set questions, I shall not struggle tomorrow!"

I know I've got to do the work, and it does get done eventually, just usually very late and in a hurry, before say, the lesson it's due.

Of course, that's school. I find things outside of academics far easier to bring myself to do.
...unless it's tidying my room.

...I'm not the most motivated of people.

I can't think of anything, which is probably why I'm posting here rather than doing homework.

For homework, I usually did it at the last minute during advisory/homeroom, so no motivation there.

For working out, metal. Lots and lots of metal.

I generally tell myself "It's here now, but the quicker you get it done the quicker it's over with. Or else it'll fester in your worries unnecessarily."

I also listen to some epicly motivating music. May i suggest Live To Win by Paul Stanley? Or the Rocky Theme?

With homework I always had to mentally kick myself in the ass in order to get it done... That and I kept reminding myself of the fact that I really hated school and didn't want to repeat any of it.

I usually read military novels and listen some sort of amp up music. I figure there has to be somewhere you do cool shit in the army, I just have to find out where it is!

Story of my life...Story of my life....

I can't seem to get motivated until I'm really screwed, deadline wise... >_<

I'm either distracted by the internet, or gaming, or...hell, ANYTHING. ...And to whoever last linked me to TVtropes....I hate you. I have not been able to get off that site since the last time I was linked to it! And I've still got like...8 tabs to finish reading! x_x

I have like two methods
1)Easing myself into it. Start by checking facebook for a couple minutes, do a couple small things, turn on some non-distracting music, turn off FB and anything distracting like it, get out what subject I want to do first, and keep going until I've finished everything or I've ran out of time.

2)Mentally slap myself around abit to get pumped/amped/motivated/whatever, then go and to it. If that doesn't work then I just try not to think about it and get up and do it--kind of like bungie jumping or something like that.

I usually just suck it up and get it done, though I do give myself a few hours the night before so I can scan the forums/RP and do my work at the same time.

Funny, that's what I'm doing now.

As for anything else, it's either "I have to do this" or "meh, I cba with messing with this shit"

Make sure I physically feel alright.

If I feel OK, then I usually don't have trouble getting myself to be productive. So feed yourself, get some sleep, and go stretch and take a stroll around the neighborhood.

I mean, I feel physically better right now than I have in a long time, so I've started grad school but am having an easier time now than I did in undergrad.

I'm not much help in motivation for homework. I never did any that wasn't mandatory coursework. As for other things, music helps for me. Powerful, inspiring music.

What is homework? Through a combination of "being lazy", "going to a crappy school", and "winging it", I didn't take home homework from 5th Grade to Graduation and was a decent student (High-ish GPA, mostly A's, highest state test scores in the school). I'm wholly unprepared for college though, probably one of the reasons I haven't been in school for two years...

I think I need to "Get Sharp"...
Advice on how to get motivated? Um, listen to music...

I do mine immediately after class. I head to the student center or library, and start working on it, even if it takes me a few hours. A group of us from the class usually work together to solve math/science stuff. For essays, we usually have long discussions over lunch. With the internet's help, of course. I'm in university, btw.

I think of my mother and how she'll kick my ass if I don't do my homework. I think of the free time I'm losing. I think of the fact that if I don't do it I'll fail, thus leading to failing school which will ultimately lead to being homeless D:

Yeah, scare tactics work the hell out of me sometimes.
