How do you guys feel about 2008?

2008 was, on paper, a huge year. I mean think about it, we had so many big hits come out this year that some of us are still trying to play them all well into 2009.

But for me, 2008 just felt meh in retrospect. I mean sure there were a crapload of games that were fun and I bought played, but there wasn't that one game that got me hooked.

Back in 07 and early 08 I was playing Call of Duty 4 non-stop, and it (almost) never got old. This year there were so many "good" games that came out that there weren't any "great" games that rose above the rest.

Did you guys feel the same way? It might actually be just me, because I think I'm getting a little tired of gaming for the time being. But hopefully 2009 can change that.

I loved 2008. In my book, one of the best years in gaming history. We saw some HUGE titles and quite a number of fresh new franchises and indie games. A lot of people said 2007 was a landmark year, but I didn't see it. This past year though... I'm extremely happy with it.

GTA:IV was a letdown IMO it seems like this and the quality of other games(Not one good game for Nintendo) made 2008 crap for Me ,I had thought that Rockstar wanted to create a fun game like the previous ones with loads to do but they seem to have changed their goal and made it about "Real Life" meaning Grey with fat cousins wanting to get drunk every second

A bunch of good games, some of which I own, some of which I'll probably purchase later.

Yeah that was definitely one of the games that started me off this year with mediocre taste in my mouth. It was good at the time but the more and more I played it the worse it got.

The few things that I did have fun with though is, MGS4's single-player, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 in general, and Left 4 Dead. I enjoyed Fallout 3, but not as much as I would've liked too.

Maybe I'm just extremely negative...

I like to think of 2008 as the year of the PS3. Seeing as 2007 was undoubtedly the year of the Xbox 360, 2008 will ultimately be remembered for the PS3's climb to victory.

Predictions for 2009: At the rate things are going, I doubt 2009 will be the year of the Wii...

Ah 2008 what a dissapointment I would say the only game that I really like that came out was Tales of Symphoniaawn of the New World but thats cause i love TOS!

Only worthwhile games of 08 (Unless there is some obscure title nobody knows about that is good.): No More Heroes, Braid, L4D, Brawl, World of Goo, Metal Slug 7, Gears 2 and Fallout 3.

Those are the only games this year that were worth buying, in a nutshell not a great year but a tolerable one.

(Before fanboys get up my bum talking about MGS 4 I will just say there is something wrong where after every kill you have to sit through a three hour cut scene of you going to the guys funeral.)

Actually I think 2008 was a mixed year for the PS3. At first it was doing great with the MGS4 boom but then the economy crashed down on it like a ton of bricks.

'08 was decent at best, and '09 looks a lot better. I mean, Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3 were fun, but Resident Evil 5 and the Sims 3 and F.E.A.R. 2 and so many great games are coming in '09. Can't wait!

I just played a lot of COD4, GTA4 (which I loved, I'm apparently the only person left who can admit this), and a lot of XBLA games, mainly Bionic Commando and Castle Crashers. All in all it was a pretty good year, but it could've been better.
