I take lots of naps, and talk to friends. It works a little. Still waiting for it to go away.
Sleeping like that is actually more of a symptom of depression than a potential solution. As is eating (even comfort food) I generally say avoid falling into traps like that).
The trick is to do things to get away from depressive triggers. For me it is doing something productive, Making a video game, doing an animation, I'm working on a book right now to act as a text for a class I'm teaching in a couple of weeks.
Some people enjoy listening to music, some people work out (which results in endorphin production which makes you happier), some people play video games (I do sometimes but too much game-play makes me feel guilty for wasting time). If you feel lonely, I always recommend joining a club (going to school? Extracurricular activities abound).
If you are hanging out with people that make you feel depressed, drop them, find new friends (it's one of the hardest things to do) Some people need a little help and that's what anti-depressant medication and counseling is about. The trick is not to become dependent on solutions like that.
And realize everyone feels down from time to time, it's natural. Realize why you're feeling depressed and figure out what makes you feel better or at least keeps you from focussing on those things that depress you.
