That is, in a romantic and sexual context.

Personally, I have no idea, that's why I created the thread. I want your opinions, feelings, past and present experiences on the matter, Escapists.

[small]When they're gone.[/small]

Seriously though, when you love both their body and soul.

In before RaktheUndead(Or whatever his/her name is) makes his/her appearance to say how much s/he dislikes the idea of romance.

O.T:I haven't actually been in love, mostly just in massive long-term crushes that I'm to cowardly to express. If I were to take a guess it would have to be when you discover things in a person that you usually find abhorrent, yet you still stay with them regardless. Again I haven't actually been in love, so that's just my guess based on other experiences that are not romantic love.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the off topic comment I made was kind of a dick move. I apologize in advance Rak if you read this, I've got nothing against you, I just noticed in alot of threads about romance you more or less have the same comment to make.

I dunno, you just know.

I've been with my fiancee since we were both fifteen (I'm 24 now).

They say teen romances never last.

Sometimes they do.

I lol'd.

OT: You just do. Sounds lame, but I've always found it to be true. Also, when you can put up with their stupid habits, pick up their dirty laundry, and just not care.

You'll know when you talk to them and you can't think of anything to say, and when you do say something you regret it.

The fact that someone is able to recognize that is quite sad (Not on your part, the guy who you're talking about.)

OT: This is a cop out answer, but if you're ever really in love, you'll definitely know that you're in love.
For a real answer, my opinion is that when you enjoy most of the things about a person. Their good side, their bad side, their quirks, and everything in between,

Wouldn't it be when you know exactly what to say?

I don't understand it either. I place my self firmly in the Yaghtzee camp that observes that true love is "undistinguishable from brain damage." I always just assumed it never existed, or just lasted for a few years and fizzled out.

Edit:

That's love.
If that is true, I am going to go out on a limb and guess that pretty much the entirety of this site has never loved anyone.

When you're on the internet replying on topics in 2 o'clock in the morning, trying to distract yourself from thinking about that one person that makes your heart go crazy, and hope that eventually, you'll so tired you just fall asleep. Then you know you're in love...
I lol'ed.

OT: You know when you love someone romantically when you can't stop thinking about being with them and doing romantic or intimate stuff with them. No, it isn't just sex in case you were thinking that.

Also, ask yourself, 'do I miss them when they aren't with me?'

when you're talking to them outside in 28 degree weather with wind wearing a t shirt, and you feel warm. Funny how frostbite is the default feeling for so many things...
