How do you like slay your dragons?

Dual-sword combat up close, a sturdy bow to convince the beast to engage at close range. I'll sheath the offhand for a bit to heal, just to irritate the beast anytime it wants to rely on its magic.

Once it lands, though... it quickly learns why I favor Elemental Force with a pair of blades...

Rathalos and Tigerex can't stand against the big guns Big Boss brings to the party. The rocket launchers and gatling gun tears those winged beasts new ones in seconds flat. The only thing worse than facing down Big Boss is if they were facing Doom Guy and his BFG-9000. There is no worse opponent than the fully equipped Doom Guy.... or Kratos.

I'll shoot them down with ice shards and arrows, then roast and slice them up with the flame breath shout and Dragonbane.

How do you slay them? How do you get them to land is what i want to know. I've encountered two dragons, besides the one you slay for the main quest.
The first appeared to the left of the place you're told to travel to as the final part of your initiation into The Companions. It just flew around making the screen all jumpy and then flew away and out of sight.
The second appeared about 20 metres to the right of the first, only a few minutes later, and did the exact same thing.

I don't have a bow, so all i can do is stand there and watch them

Me? I personally like to call my friend dragon to kick the crap out of the enemy dragon, it's always fun to watch.

Or I'll use the Storm call and watch as the dragon gets destroyed by lightning strikes.
Though sometimes a Dragonrend and then firing several fireballs at his face is always fun.

how did you get a friend dragon already ? i normal use lighting while my horse shadowmere kicks the dragon

Don't want to spoil anything big of course, but you'll be able to do it once you've completed the main quest line.

so the dragons dont just disapear like the gates in oblivon they staty around

Yeah, I was actually worried when I finished the main storyline about dragons not showing up anymore, but they do continue to randomly attack you, which is always a good thing.

im still such a small level mage so when i see a dragon, i run to the nearest city, let it concentrate on the guards and shoot firebolt from afar and when its down to health, Bound Sword and BAM! and his sorry ass is gone

As I've been avoiding any semblance of main quest with a fervour I haven't actually got to the part when you can get random dragon attacks, sort of like playing through Oblivion before getting the gates to appear, fun stuff.

Anyway I actually found a dragon as part of a quest, a skeletal one so it apparently didn't have a soul as I couldn't absorb it. That or you can't do that until you get into the main quest but I defeated it by using a double-casted heal spell to out heal any damage and then wail on it with my two enchanted skyforge steel war axes when it wasn't attacking. Twas awesome.

Shortly afterwards I discovered that restoration wards are incredibly powerful, thanks to some magicka regen and restoration perks I could use a low level ward to completely fend off Morokei (sp?) one of the harder lich bosses in the game without taking much damage if any. Just ward in one hand and then axe in the other and just keep putting the ward up every time the spells break it. In conclusion, if wards can block dragon breath I am going to be using those a hell of a lot more, really amazing spells.

I have yet to develop my master strategy (still need to learn some more spells), but so far this is my strategy vs. dragons:

1: Examine the area and look for a spot that could give me good all around cover.
2: Apply poison and attack when the dragon stops moving to attack.
3: Cower in fear and pop off another arrow or two.
4: When it drops, fire arrows until it dies.

If your on a flat ground they'll land and attack you after a while. At least they always do that for me, though it has to be really flat

I might use one of my 3 magic users:

1. Corwin, Master of Frost Magic
2. Vassago, Master of Fire Magic
3. Kravva, Master of Shock Magic

Mostly, I'd pick one, dual-wield a spell, then run around screaming my head off and blasting the thing until it FALL DOWN GO THUD!
