Recently, I've seen a ton of hate on the show that I personally really enjoy. I started thinking, "Am I the only only that actually likes this show?" So, how do you like Terra Nova? Do you think it's a Jurassic Park ripoff or actually a good show?

Have only seen promos but it looks a hell of a lot like Jurassic Park. Actually, and this is no lie the promo opened with "This isn't Jurassic Park..."

I think it's a good show. There are a few weak spots here and there, but what show doesn't have those in the first few episode or even the whole first season?
Characters are starting to step away from the stereotypical archetypes and the writing has yet to sink into mind-numbing, painfully stilted crap (in my opinion at least).

And to say that Terra Nova is ripping off Jurassic Park because of the dinosaurs would be like claiming Micheal Crichton ripped off Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

I started watching it when it premiered, watched the first few weeks, then a couple weeks ago the lineup changed and it conflicted with How I Met Your Mother and 2 Broke Girls... so I stopped. I actually tried to watch one of the episodes I missed this afternoon, but got about 10 minutes in and gave up. Got boring. The recent murder episode, I stopped just after the kid was about to take a drink to hear news about his girlfriend's possible coming over.

I may go back to it if it gets renewed, the budget may expand and the sets may grow from the tiny little ones they are now. The sets are so small and limited that that's one of the main reasons I stopped watching. It's an action show and is lacking the scope, and, well, the dinosaurs are a gimmick, they're not actually part of the main plot. It's frustrating. You don't see camera shots of the characters standing in a field, with a wide area behind them. And if you do, it's empty - stick a dinosaur or two in behind them to remind the viewer that it is 65 million BC or whatever.

... The fact that I've thought the series through enough to be able to list what I don't like means I care, but it's let me down. Which is upsetting. I was about 10 when Jurassic Park came out, and, as anyone my age will tell you, the movie was immense in every way and in how it affected us.

Terra Nova... leaves me a bit ragey because of what it lacks. Wish they would've taken cheaper actors and spent more on the sets, CG, and locale.

Just to pick up on your last point, the show has a budget of $4million per episode, most show are quite a bit less. If they spent any more money on it, the show would be more expensive to run than a small nation...

As to the OT, I've seen the first few epsisode, and it's ok, not the best sci-fi ever, but still good.

I enjoy it, it's not the most incredible of shows, but it's good fun and has some interesting mysteries to keep me interested. I hope it continues for a while.

Also, dinosaurs are frickin' awesome.

I actually quite like it. Maybe it's my rekindled interest in TV which makes me like everything but it is quite good. The dinosaurs look terrible, and you'd think with all the advancements in 15 years the dinosaurs would be comparable to the ones in Jurrasic Park... they're not.

However, the characters are nice and the writing is good. Not exactly amazing or mind blowing, but it does have its moments and the humour is there. Good enjoyment for me.

If it's 4 mill an episode, the sets should not be that tiny. More sweeping vistas and CG would make me appreciate the show much better. I just get a claustrophobic feeling in some scenes.

My dear old mother loves the show. She wants the series for Christmas. I watched it with her in a mini-marathon and it was pretty good. I like how the dinosaurs are used, and how the people have to not only live amongst themselves from a trillion people-world to a few people one, but also how they have to live amongst creatures they hardly know.

It's not pushing the boundaries of the entire sci-fi genre to new levels, but I'm definitely enjoying watching it. I hope it doesn't get ditched after the first series.

The show is like Star Gate Universe set in Jurassic Park. If you haven't seen SGU, don't watch it I will summarize for you: A bunch of people get stranded and every episode a new problem arises that will either kill them all or kill just the important characters and they always avert disaster at the very last second, also the actors weren't that good. It got boring fast.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you. I loved Stargate Universe. It had some great actors (Robert Carlyle was amazing) and I really think it got the feel of being stranded on ship lost in space. Some characters were perhaps a bit papery to begin with while others were really interesting. Most people who watched that show thought it would be just as cheese as the other Stargate series, but it wasnt and they left, alas. Might be you werent one of those and it just wasnt your cup of tea, and thats fine.

Anywho, as I loved Stargate Universe, I hated Terra Nova. What a waste of a completely awesome theme and starting point. Some of the actors are decent, like the leader (Stephen Lang) and the father (Jason O'Mara), but the rest of them are just so bloody awful I cringe every time I see them. The CGI is at times so horrible I had to fast forward through it because it was so bad. (The scene in the pilot where the leader and the father look out over the vista in particular) If some people like it, that's fine, but in my opinion it was just a waste of a really good opportunity. Maybe it manages to improve sooner rather than later, but for now I'm gonna stay away.

Terra Nova is a sci fi survival family drama cop show with dinosaurs, set in the future and the past. I kinda wish they acknowledged the goofiness off the premise and ran with it, instead of just using it to make a dull "SyFy with a better budget" thing.

Terra Nova and Spy are the only reasons I watch TV. I just hope it doesn't go the way of Lost and loses itself in its own convolution.

I still can't get on the suspension of disbelief that humans traveling back in time to an alternate universe, 85 million years back, to save the universe alternate to the one they travel back to (where the plot is set), would not severely fuck with some temporal laws and general "do nots"..

I admit, it's got some good parts to it. But honestly? Nothing I couldn't find in other shows like House and Stargate (Atlantis and Universe, primarily), or movies like (obviously) Jurassic Park. Though, unfortunately, you never can seem to escape the inevitably awkward teen romance subplots with characters that look like they should be in Hollister ads..

I would watch it, but I can't take my TV off AMC just in honor of Breaking Bad.
Also I watched Falling Skies and it killed my view of the "Colony Apocalypse Survival". Jebus, that show was terrible.
"RIPSTICK!"
