How do you make sure you've really shut down Origin?

Instead of giving a long background I'll just cut to the chase:

I would like to play Mass Effect 3, and prior to that its demo, on the PC. To do that I must unfortunately use Origin. I do not trust Origin and would like to know if there are ways to make sure that it has been completely shut down once you exit it.

Hunting it down under the Processes tab of the Task Manager is one thing, but is it enough? Is more required and if so, what must be done?

In Windows 7:

Control Panel ---> Uninstall a Program ---> EA Origin (or however it is listed).

This is the only sure way.

Well, I plan to remove it (possibly burn the land and salt it as well) when I'm done playing the demo and later on Mass Effect 3 (after a reluctant reinstall).

At the moment though, I'm afraid your advice is not very helpful.

If it's not running under processes or services then it's not running.
If you're really paranoid, use sandboxie.

A continuation of Crono1973's comment; how do I make sure that I've completely removed Origin once I've uninstalled it?

How evasive do you think it is?

It's the same as every other program...

So by avoiding joining a herd you joined the herd of people that don't care about what they install on their computer.

I'm fine with it, but it takes a hypocrite to say that others are sheep because we are all sheep.

You right-click on the icon in the taskbar. Then you select Exit.
Wow! So complicated!

Because EA has the time to spy on everyone's computers because.........idiot internet paranoia over overanalyzing the terms and agreements? I'm sorry, but people's irrational fear of Origin is hilarous.

So instead of just expressing your opinion you decided to insult everyone who took a different approach to the issue.

Newsflash, you do a lot of things just because other people do it too, no point in denying.

And I can say that at least half of the people "boycotting" Origin have at least read about what they are doing, not just falling blindly into assumptions. I know I haven't. Next time, don't disrespect what others have decided to do with their privacy.

Let's face it. Have you read and agreed with the "terms and conditions"?

If you have just accepted them without reading, stop calling others sheep.

i have read it and frankly its the same old shit you get from other companies even ones not related to gaming. so I'll just call them all sheep since you all seem to be trying to force the same tired crap on me. when people speak about privacy on computers all i can think about is what is so damn important about the files they scan nothing absolutely nothing, all they say is i played this or installed that which they can easily get from the websites who gave you the stuff.

Now I'll just walk away from this interaction because you have chosen to insult a few thousands of users even though you have no clue about how corporations work.

I can't just call your operator and demand them to tell me where you have been carrying your cellphone for the last weeks. Or call your bank and ask them where and how much you have been withdrawing.

Sounds a bit paranoid, but what do I care... I can't see how it could be on services.

Task Manager.

That's how.

ctrl+shift+esc nowadays.
