I have nothing but pity in my heart for people who seriously believe this, because their lives are so full of shallow and hollow pursuits that there is nothing in the afterlife for them---their soul has long since been sold.

There are 2 types of success. Personal and Interpersonal.
Personal is what is important to you. Usually this amount to reasonable material wealth, loving partner, happy family etc. etc.
Interpersonal is what you leave behind to history, be it a major historic event or invention or something.
Both are equally important yet most of us will usually only get one or the other, if either.

Money is an excellent means to an end...while it does not buy happiness, it buys many things that aid in pursuit of same. People just need to remember the difference.
