It's a simple question, how exactly did you pick which badges go into the 5 badge slots under your avatar?

Are they your favorites? Are they the ones you're most proud of? Do they tell a message or a story? Do tell.

For me personally my badges tell a short story from right to left. Joker, bomb, oh god everything's on fire! The badge on the far left is the one most people see first, and the one I'm most proud of because it's the most unique one I have, and the most difficult to get.

So what does your choice of 5 badges say about you?

They tell you that I managed to ace an impossible quiz, that I'm my favorite avenger, that I've been around for a long time and been very well-behaved, and that my threads are popular.

I remember a time back when we were only allowed four badges...

I've got my Morpheus & Trinity as they represent quite an achievement, and if I ever get a Neo it will go there. Also I love The Matrix. The others I just liked the look of them.

I choose the ones I think give an indication of my personality or what I am interested in, or sometimes, just a badge I am proud of.... Props on the forum inferno one, by the way, OP.

I just show the ones I liked the most. Although, I also put Neo there as an achievement

To be honest I'm not all that fussed. Sometimes I'll have a bit of a change around depending on my mood (and sometimes I'll be odd and do this whole colour matching thing...), but most of the time it's the few achievement badges I have sitting at the top of the list.

I try to balance difficulty with the color scheme

Or, well, I tried. Now I just keep them there and don't bother to do anything about it.

I chose mine like DoPo above me, based on personal preference and nothing else.
The Red Button, on the other hand, I wish wasn't there because it's an eye-sore, but it's been stuck there for months now, and I can't get it to go away no matter what I do.

Circles! Rimmer! Circles!

That pretty much summed up my train of though for my selection. I would have the red button in the middle, but mine appears to not move when I try to place it there.

If you move other badges above it, it should be shunted down the list into obscurity.

I just have random badges for no particular reason, besides the trinity badge, which is an achievement, and the social sattelite badge which I like the look of.

Tried it, doesn't work, trust me.

And now that I've just tried it, it doesn't work for me either. Going to try talking to the tech team, I'll PM you to let you know any updates.

I like the contrast between the happy avatar with a white background and the dark badges under it. The setup looked a lot better with only four, though. The hookshot I threw in as a desperate attempt to match the other four.

Also, I really liked There Will Be Brawl.

Thank you mate, I appreciate it. :)

For those who don't know (and there'll probably be a few who don't), you can reorder your badges here . . .

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/badges/

The 5 at the top are the 5 that appear under your avatar on forum posts.

OT: Mine are just milestone and posting accomplishments, at the moment.
The amazing topic badge is particularly interesting. Where'd you get that? ;)

OT: I just use the ones I get from personality tests that I like or think fit me. I also have the spinning badge because its fun and I like to spread a little chaos and anarchy everywhere I go. Go on, press it! You know you want to.

I have different reasons for different badges. My current lineup is:

Forum Navigator just because I really like the look of it,
Publisher Club because of course I have to display the ONE badge that actually cost me money,
Team Rocket because they're so damn funny ([small]in fact, they were the ONLY reason I ever watched the show[/small]),
The ZP Gremlin because I like that one the best out of all my ZP-related badges, and
Landmark because I'm proud of it.

Well, I have the Holly Badge because (Norman Lovett's) Holly is hilarious and deserving of worship. I've got Captain Kirk, because Shatner is hilarious and deserving of worship. I have the Branston Pickle badge, because, while you non-brits might not realise it (assuming they aren't sold in your country), Yahtzee references it for a reason, it's ridiculously tasty. I've got a dog, because dogs are super awesome. And I've got the little girl badge because deep down I'm a complete wimp and my avatar is a façade.

Mine's are just my favourite badges in all honesty.

I think at one point my badges used to "tell a story", but I can't for the life of me remember what they were.
