In 5 billion years when the sun consumes it, and with our kind watching our old home world from afar...

As far as wiping out the human race goes, a massive asteroid impact (like the Mt. Everest-sized one that killed the dinosaurs) or large-scale nuclear war are the most likely candidates. Another star somewhere in the galaxy aiming a supernova at us is another possibility, though that's exceptionally unlikely. The Earth itself will likely only come to an end when the Sun dies, but that's so far away that we would have either been wiped out by one of the other three threats I just mentioned or we'd have moved on to colonize other planets. Almost anything else ("global warming," a super-volcano going off, or a medium-sized asteroid impact, for just a few examples) would be something that we could easily adapt to using technology, even if it did initially result in a significant death toll and a few lean years for our species.

Well, I prefer to think of zombies, cause it would be some awesome fun for a bit. However, what will prolly happen is our demise through something like the melting of the ice caps because of global warming, or something big will collapse because we drilled too much oil.

(takes a deep breath)

Global tensions brought on by increased populations and decreasing resources will spark global conflicts within unstable regions resulting in increased arms developments. In the race to create the perfect weapon without the destruction of natural resources, the zombie virus will be created and used, but grow out of control. To erase the virus, the world government will launch nuclear missiles to kill the undead hoards, but the resulting fallout will tear a hole in the fabric of space and time. This rip in reality will bring about all the mythological and religeous "end-of-days" scenarios, but these gods and deities will be wiped out by the coming aliens from another dimension, who seek to convert the godlike power into an energy source and morph what is left of humanity into repurposed slaves. However, these aliens will awaken the Old Gods, who will emerge from our oceans and fight with both the mythological deities and intergalactic aliens, with humanity struggling to survive within their changing planet. Unfortunately, the rip in space and time will continue to grow, causing our sun to go supernova and a blackhole to form, what we know of existence will collapse onto itself...

...and then like all things, the universe will come full circle, and the end will once again start at the beggining.

...and just for fun, throw in something about robots and global warming.

The human world? Probably something of our own design that makes it inhabitable. Humans'll just slowly die out.

I think a big meteor would be the most likely extinction event for most life, though.

The Earth just spits us out into space for being douches and bulldozing everything.

I always hope for the world to end in a game like format. Super villians that act like comic villians just blowing a hole in the earth. Zombies attack, Aliens invade or my favorite, clothes walk except for pajamas, pajamas are the only safe clothes. But far fetched aside, more then likely global warming, but hay, I'll be dead LONG before I can see it.

When Theodore Roosevelt and Vladimir Putin engage in a fist fight the world will be destroyed by the awesomeness.

I'm thoroughly convinced it will be death by asteroid. However, before space rock comes here to ruin our shit, I believe there will be a giant world wide party beginning with this song:

I honestly welcome the end if that's its theme song.

Basically through a brutal combination over time of war, disease, famine and astrological events. Also, a bunch of weird stuff I can't even explain. Go read Revelations, if you're not Christian it's at least a pretty freaky read and may inspire your creative juices.
