How do you play MInecraft?

Yes, yet another minecraft thread. I know....

Anyway, how do you play Minecraft? I don't think there's a correct way to explain this, so I will give an example.

I run around during the day, mostly mining coal out of walls, building little waterslides, and collecting animal hides and meat. At night I retreat into my home and dig under ground as deep as I can. Recently I hit magma and iron.

I can't wait through the night and I don't want to waste time in my bed sleeping. So I dig. And dig. And dig. No monsters. Just me, my pickaxe, and the dead silence of the underground....

If I ever had the free time to play Minecraft, I would immediately dig around my spawn point, building the beginnings of a massive tower. I would expand it until the sun could shine freely down to the very bedrock during the day. And, if you look up from the bottom at night, you would see a spiral of torches leading up to the very limit of the sky.

I used to distract myself by building things specifically for myself - roller coasters, wizard towers, the like, but the fascination only lasts so long.

So, recently, I've gotten into world-building. I'm constructing cities, villages, dungeons, temples, and other such places for the upcoming Adventure mode. It's growing, and soon it shall live...

I invariably build a multi-storey tower over the entrance of my mine. Then I work on other projects like cliff-side dwellings and so forth.

I wonder round, building mines and collecting materials until I get hit with an idea for something to build.

Then I spend the next 8 hours+ building it.

So far I've built a suspended Nethergate platform, a large watch tower with water flowing from the top and a large base with a surrounding wall to keep out enemies and an underground section.

OT: I usually mark my spawn point, find a plot of land, dig it out, collect materials for a foundation, then start building a house right away. That is as far as I have gotten.
