My name is Thomas. People always ask me whether they should call me Thomas or Tom. When they say that, quickly judge which one sounds better when they say it and then tell them to use that one.

My name is Adelaide - Which is a capital city in my country, so if someone in Australia gets it wrong, I get pretty annoyed.

What annoys me more is when people call me Natalie or April. I had a school (geography) teacher call me April for MONTHS. I finally snapped, got up, screamed at her that my name was Adelaide and that she should remember it since it was a part of her job, whilst pointing at the city.

...I got sent outside :3 and in trouble off the head teacher.

It is annoying, but reasonable.
My name is hard to pronounce (my full name) So its no big deal, but if its the same person over and over again it gets annoying.

Typical.

What I don't understand is why people think its such a reach to call me Billy or Bill from my real name, William? Those are my nicknames...I don't get why people don't believe me sometimes when I say they can call me Bill.

I don't really care. My name isn't that important to me. Someone was calling me Ralph for 2 years before he asked what my name was.

I'm used to it by now. My name is Ross, so naturally, when people hear my name, they say one of three things:

a).....Russ?.......Oh, ROSS! Right, gotcha.
b) Do you dress for less? HUR HUR! (Or some variation of that)
c) All of the above

It's grating, but I've grown used to it.

My last name has the word "apple" in it, one of the reasons it's easy to pronounce. There was a lot less nastiness than most people would expect.

I've been mistakenly called "Alec" on occasion now that it comes to mind, and it annoyed me a bit.

Could be worse. Your last name could be Sander. Whether you'd be great would be up to history to decide.

I've got an Arabic name and it is mispronounced often, I didn't have them much of a problem untill I came to America but from that point forward I always had problems. Americans can't pronounce "foreign" words to save their lives.

My first name is three letters long. Nobody has ever, ever mispronounced it.

I have, however, had people fail miserably, and I mean miserably at spelling my last name. Technically, even we don't even pronounce our own last name correctly.

Heh. German surnames.

I've got a Greek last name and people butcher it constantly. It's not even that long of a name... No one really messes up Heather (my first name).
