Both my first and last name are annoyingly difficult to spell properly so I got used to it pretty quickly.

I don't think I've ever attended a school or had a job where my name was spelled properly on any official documents.

No one's spelt "Chris" wrong since I was in primary school, and I was too busy jamming stuff up my nose to get angry at them for spelling it wrong.

Kinda bugs me when people call me "Christopher", but that is technically my name so I don't say anything about it. It's usually only teachers and old people, anyway.

Everyone knows Lewis and Clark, my last name is Clarke.

People never put the e on the end unless I tell them.

If it's a stranger, say someone taking my order that has to call me back up, I just make sure it phonetically sounds like my name, which is Darron. So I'll accept dare-on, dare-in, some people say dar-on, something to that extent. It's also a semi-unusual spelling so I'm quite forgiving. I do get irked when I'm misheard as Dillon or Derek or Damon but I try to be cool and gently correct them.

My own family disagrees on it's pronunciation, so it doesn't bother me at all.

I correct people when they misspell it though.

Typical.

What I don't understand is why people think its such a reach to call me Billy or Bill from my real name, William? Those are my nicknames...I don't get why people don't believe me sometimes when I say they can call me Bill.
You get that? Seriously?
Common sense isn't very common, is it?
Yup...I really do. And I get it a lot more than I'd like to admit. I don't understand...

In this world, common sense is very hard to come by.

I just politely say in a raised voice "No, JADE J-A-D-E" it gets mistaken for Jane a lot and it actually really does piss me off.

When I have to tell people how to spell 'Erin' I do get a little annoyed.
Especially when something like 'Eirin' comes along.

i get it all the time. my first name is Graham and over the course of my life its been spelled in really awkward ways such as Greyham

also my surname is Lindsay so ive had Lindsey alot but what frustrates me is linzi (ive almost hit someone for giving me an Xmas card)

not to mention the amount of people who think my surname is Leslie that pisses me off to, then when i correct them they say "oh yeah i remember it was a girls name". they better prepare for a faceful of fist

I pretend it didn't happen (unless they ask if they did it right). It happens all the time with my family name.

My last name descends from French, but it often is mispronounced as a Spanish term. The correct way to say it is "Voy-ulz," but I've heard it said "Voy-lez."

Either way, if somebody mispronounces my name, it's an honest mistake on their part, which I correct for them in a friendly manner.

However, if you manage to mispronounce my first name, "Zach" there is something wrong with you.

I have a French surname, which makes my life more tedious, since I have to spell it everytime I say to. No one truly learns it, and no one can't pronounce French, so, I'm beyond getting mad nowadays.

I really don't react at all. in fact, I had a teacher in 8th grade that was gone on maternity leave, and all the substitutes called me Bruce. I was asked just before graduating high school if that was my real name by a guy that was in that class.

I tend to spell it in advance. They even get the relatively common first name wrong, never mind the sans-O not-very-common Irish surname.

A lot of people get my last name wrong, they say 'Martian.'
Fucking MARTIAN. I'm not an alien! It quite clearly ends in 'man' and not 'tian' I get Marshall quite a lot too. People must just look at my name and go "A HERPA DERPA O___O"
