How do you use your hard earned skill points with each level-up?

Do you try to spread them evenly? Or just dump them all on one skill at a time?

I try to choose the skills that I want, and then keep them even.

It's usually snipers or sneaky stuff.

in games that let me use Skill points i usually try to balance out my characters skills that wont grow very well and leave the ones that will grow on their own.

Depends on what my class needs, I suppose. In a video game, I focus on life and the main attribute. In D&D, I always specialize my characters skills.

I start out evenly, then focus on a couple so I kick-ass with those and have the others to some effect.

Any specific game? or just any game with skillpoints?
I tend to try and spread them evenly, however, I do sometimes target a certain skill I want to raise a lot (normally related to character speed).
Well, that is all there is to it. All even, but some are more even than others.
That sounds familiar...

It's kinda hard to answer since how a person spends skill points depends on the play style they want at the time... oh, and the entire game in question as well.

Although for a general, sweeping answer I usually try putting points into anything that looks useful and be a 'jack of all trades, master of none' character. Sometimes I will focus on offense, though.

I try and spend them as evenly across the board as possible until i need something special then that's when i dump all into one thing.

Usually I'll choose one particular skill when I get my first point and then just sink all gathered skill points into that area. I might put one or two points in other categories, just to add some variety.

I try to balance it out evenly.

If I got a few extra points left, then I'll just use them for skills I like.

I spread it out evenly, unless I want a character to specialise in a particular area I feel they would be more effective in.

I spread them evenly, then switch according to what I want to specicialize in.

Or I buy bananas. If the game lets me.

That really differs from game to game, and even from playthrough to playthrough.

Take a game liek Diablo 2, i know it's old but i suppse most peopel will know about it.
On my first few characters, i didn't really think enough, so i put skill-points in whatever the coolest avalible skills was, often splitting them between too many skills, so they got unfocccused.
On later characters i sortof made a plan on how my character should end up, so i didn't waste skill points on skills i wouldn't use for mroe than a few levels anyways.

It also really depends on whether you can re-place your skill-points (like WoW for instance) or it's un-redoable like D2 or Demigod, or if it's something like DotA or HoN, where you'll eventually max out every skill anyways, cause theres enough skill points to do so, so it's only a matter of which skills first.

I put them into what my character needs. Like in Dragon Age: Origins, I put almost all my attribute points into magic, willpower, and cunning(for persuasion). On my warrior it was strength, constitution, and some willpower, and a little bit of dextarity. It all depends really.

soldier/warrior through and through. So big on atk and def and anything to boost my strength. Then maybe in a later playthrough I'll play with other builds.
