Hello Escapists, long time lurker, first time poster. Was brought here because of ZP, and decided to see what else was what in this place.

And I must say, out of all the places I go to, I enjoy the forums here the most. There is ALWAYS something interesting being discussed here. And I prob would have joined sooner, but I couldn't find an avatar I liked, but I think chunk will do =D.

Anyways, that brings me to my post. It seems that anytime something really cool is posted that I didn't know about, without fail, 2 to 3 replies down the line someone will say, "Old news" and then post a link about a post someone else posted, where said cool item was posted a week ago.

When I log on in the morning as I'm waking up, I open Firefox, middle click on a folder I call dailies, and then opens many different tabs containing such things as :

Warcraft Homepage (Yes I play WoW, I actually met my wife on WoW, we still play together <3)
MMO-Champion
WoWInterface
IGN
Failblog
Cracked
Newgrounds
Escapist

Thats the general daily sites I visit each day to see the scoop on games and get my lulz in for the morning. I have learned about many neat things here reading these forums that I never knew existed, such as Failblog or Cracked.

So I ask The Escapist community, how do you stay in the know?

I'm on here far too often, and I remember when something was posted previously. Usually there will have been 3-4 threads that day on "big" news, and it'll be easy to remember.\

Welcome to The Escapist!

I really don't know. I seem to know what's going on, without hearing/reading about it. Maybe I'm just physic o_O

But mostly my friends keep me in the loop as I pretend to know what they're talking about, and go along with the conversation.

EDIT: Pardon my manners, but welcome to the forums! :D

The Escapist is a good place for that kind of thing.

And I subscribe to a gaming magazine, PCPowerPlay, which will give me a lot more in-depth knowledge about both serious stuff such as games and fun sites and links.

But I'm also at a college. You pick up cool sites and stuff much, much faster than actual learning there.

It's not just about one's own laughs, but about being able to share with others, which is awesome.

And as for games news, I join the sites of the developers and publishers. It is the easiest way to get honest updates. True. Everything else is mostly hearsay.

Stay in the know?
I don't, more or less.

I've got this Site, and an occasional trip to Kotaku (Back up to Once a day), but otherwise I come late to the party most of the time.

I randomly come across it when looking at something else. MSN, Yahoo, Facebook, here, Leasticoulddo.com. Actually, this has reminded me I have to look something up, excuse me.

Welcome to the Escapist! I haven't been on here for long myself, but I've enjoyed myself so far. I use Escapist, Digg, and GameTrailers for my news.
Welcome!

My 'dailies' would include The Escapist Magazine site, mmo-champion, facebook, twitter, my e-mail inbox, my guild's homepage and seven webcomics (Ctrl Alt Del, Dark Legacy, Looking For Group, xkcd, Questionable Content and Wasted Talent).

The only ones I actually have open in my browser are facebook, Escapist and my guild's page though; I keep up to speed on the others through notification applications on my phone (part of my desk setup) and my igoogle page, which also holds RSS feeds to additional websites like IGN, a few 'regular' news sites, work, college etc) =)

Welcome to the Escapist~

As for how I get my news... I read the headlines in the Denver Post and New York Times at work. When I'm at home, I get a lot of news from this site, and I have a Google Reader feed tracking a few things. Plus my boyfriend linked me to his Reader feed, so I follow him and read articles there.

I also keep up with stuff via Twitter. Mostly work stuff, since I can follow @Starbucks and @Frappuccino. ...Shh.

OT: Been ninja'd by everyone already but it's about time you joined The Escapist. As for keeping in the know, I check up on news websites and stuff.

I know nothing, I live under a rock. A rock locked up in a ten-inch thick, reinforced titanium box buried some 500 feet below the Earth's crust.

....I need to get out more.

Ohyes- and welcome to the Escapist!
