How do you think first contact will be?

First contact will probably more likely be through unmanned probes, if you ask me. Maybe they or we could put a few objects relevant to their planet in a specially designed probe (making sure they're all carefully sterilized, can't be too careful with microbes) and bring it down on a safe part of the recipient's planet for collection and examination.

Whether it's them or us that would make first contact is the real question.

my guess is the first time we run into aliens they wont be what we consider intelligent life, I mean if life is an anomaly in our universe than human intelligence is truly strange, like one in a million chance a planet can sustain life, then one in a million species of creatures are what we call intelligent

Technically we already have, there is evidence of some form of micro-organism that once lived on mars, we found the the fossilized version.
