How do you unwind after work?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not the type of person who can get home from work and dive straight into another activity. I need time to wind down. What I've been wondering, fellow Escapists, is does anyone else feel the same? Do you have to unwind after work, and if so, how do you do it?

Personally, I tend to spend some time either playing games (Pokemon X being my go-to chill out game at the moment, courtesy of Pokemon Amie) or catching up on a TV show (right now, Supernatural). If I'm feeling a little more alert and/or coherent, I'll turn to the Escapist and/or Reddit to stimulate my brain a bit.

A cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit are the icing on the cake, and make Ahri a very happy bunny even after the most stressful of days at work.

It all depends on when I get home because sometimes I don't get home until well after midnight, in which case it's a shower and me cuddling my pillow for sleepy time.

Otherwise, I make myself a drink and either hop around here until I want to do something else, or I watch some Game Grumps. Maybe catching up a TV show if I'm in the mood for that, which is The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire at the moment, and some times playing something if I'm not too tired. At the moment it's either Saint's Row The Third, me replaying FFXIII, or Borderlands 2 if my buddy is on at the same time.

Making a large bowl of bratwurst and rice while listening to music very loudly, then sitting down and eating said meat/rice concoction while watching the food network, then going and doing something fun with real people.

On the days that I have to deal with classes or work I do feel like I need to do something that isn't considered work per say. My most common one is to catch up with the videos I missed that day or to try watching an episode of a show/anime. Also some games. And a bit of reading. =)

Video games, internet and exercising, usually running on a treadmill or outside. On the weekends I will do things with my friends and family, or just play more games and internet surfing. I don't really watch TV anymore, so any shows I want to catch are all online.

Like you OP, Pokemon has sort of taken over my life at the moment, though what else is new...

I tend to go to the gym. After a day of sitting on my ass it feels nice to force my body to do some physical activity. Afterward I come home and sit around watching netflix, playing video games, or watching an LP on youtube if I'm too tired for the video games (all of these activities should be accompanied by a travel mug of jasmine green tea).

Beer and gaming. Nothing like a few pints with a game of Dota 2.
If I'm not feeling like gaming I will watch whatever TV series I have on the go at the time.

Gym. Destroy that body, work the day off.

Also go before you begin the day. That's the best way

I load up Dota 2 and play a few games. Because nothing says winding down like "OMG STOP FEEDING YOU F**KING NOOBS!"

My job sucks. I can quit in December though, so that's something.

Depends on what day it is. During the week I've got from about 8 or 9 until whatever time I go to bed. I generally come home, turn on my computer, check email, check Escapist and PC Gamer, look through Steam, and maybe play something.
Fridays and weekends, It's always something different. I still try to keep up with Email and the Escapist, though for the most part I'm out with friends or doing housework and everything else I didn't get to during the week.

Empty the dishwasher, load the dishwasher, get the laundry in/out, get the next load on, do something about dinner, bathe the kids, get 'em in jarmies, take care of the dinner dishes, supervise toothbrushing, read stories, sing songs.
Then I can unwind by going to bed because I'm probably working the next day.
No no, save your pity...

Same. I've been going five days a week for just under three years now.

Still have no idea how I've managed to keep it up, but it has gotten to the point now that I can't unwind after work without gyming it up.

Get home, watch tv, do washing up, do laundry, get food and browse the internet and play video games.

I really don't feel like doing a hell of a lot when I get home, but I always do more than I intended to do somehow. The only day this is different is on a Friday evening when I just go "fuck it, everything can be done in the morning" and get some food and slob out.

Nothing beats an after work pint.

But yeah, generally I just get stuck in to other work or study. I figure if I spend my spare hours working on building a career I actually enjoy, then I won't have to ever go to a job where I need to "wind down" ever again.

I try run as much as I can most weeks. A lot of times I might hit the road for 12 miles or so(if the weather is good). Otherwise, I'd rather watch TV or play video games.

I take a shower, get some food in my gullet and make my nightly round of catching up on my favorite websites (like this one) before going to bed.

I usually make a mug of coffee and go on the internet , read or watch an episode of a tv show.
It usually involves sitting and doing as little as possible for a period of time.

Even if i do have to go somewhere or something, I normally find time to just sit with a lovely warm cup of coffee.

Most of the times after work, I go to bed to sleep 1-2 hours.
After that either I use my PC to play a game or see a movie/Youtube video [mostly Youtube] or go out to see my friends.
Sadly because all of my friends work as well, I don't hang out with them often. Fortunately our workplaces are close and sometimes I go to see them for a little.
