How do you unwind after work?

To wind down after work, I usually sleep. I'm a closer, so work is the end of my day. On days when I do late nights, or if I work a lunch shift, I don't know that I ever really wind down from work, it tends to ruin the majority of my day. Then again, I hate my job with a passion that has rarely been rivaled in earth's history.

Nap. I work in the early hours of the morning so my sleep isn't always great. After that, exercise, clean up the place a bit, and then games, netflix, or a book.

Foooooood. Usually I'll cook up something in the kitchen if I'm up to it and then veg out on the couch for an hour or so.

Afterwards the games usually follow, more often than not a rousing game or two of DOTA 2 or some Guild Wars. Alternatively, I pop up here and lurk the forums for a bit.

I usually play the same video james, mainly Left 4 Dead 2, because it's the first thing that comes to mind and I can get a few quick campaign games in before I go to bed. There aren't many games available in the west of Scotland, though. Maybe that will change with the introduction of this new 'li-fi' thing. If anyone wants to add me, send a PM.

It's strange that most of my communication and recreational activity is done online, considering that this is the Scottish Highlands. I suppose that's a fairly good indicator of just how dull vast stretches of this country are. Beautiful, but despairingly, crushingly dull.

Alternativly (or after that) I often play Chivalry or watch some Youtube stuff. Sometimes I also work out (though, I've gotten quite lazy lately. I really need to get into it again. And perhaps star jogging. I'm not well in shape atm.)

I usually browse the Escapist and/or watch Youtube. Something where I don't have to think much.

Once I've recharged a little I may read or play video games. Depending on my university schedule I may have to study or do assignments instead.

I like changing my clothes as soon as I get home. Then I drink some juice or soda and play some Team Fortress 2.
And besides that I try not to think about my job.

Catch up on any episodes/videos that i need to, play a game or just listen to music while staring at my desktop. Seems to do the trick. Although i usually get home from work so late that i just go to sleep.

Mostly I get home, dump my crap, and flop into my chair for a bit. I check my email and facebook and a few other nonsense sites, then head updatirs to read a book while I use the exercise bike, then shower and come down for dinner in my tshit and sweats. Then I usually watch tv or play games for the evening. If it's the end of the week and I don't have to shower (I get up at 7am and leave the house by 7:20, no time to shower), I go upstairs, put on my sweats and come back down to flop into my chair.

Same routine 99% of the time. Get home, say hi to the dogs and brothers, drop a deuce, take my shoes off, get on the computer and check email, youtube inbox etc., make a drink (usually vodka and cranberry), get back on the computer and either play games or watch random videos online for a few hours.

Generally, I simply get a book, watch a show, listen to music... occasionally play a game.

But I do all of those things generally anyway whenever I come home from anywhere. Only difference is sometimes I'll eat or not.

At the minute, my journey home from work consists of an hour and a half of walking, sooo...usually when I get in I pet my cat and visit my bunnies. That lasts about 10 minutes average...whatever comes after could be just the internet, video games or a nap. I can rarely dive straight into a game as soon as I get home, though.

For me first it'll be a short sleep to recharge my batteries post shift. Then I'll clean up and grab a bite to eat.

After that it either go out and chill with friends, stay in and play a game or two or catch up on tv or do some art or writing. If anything else good comes up that trumps these and I'm bouncing with energy and cash I'll consider it.

Winding down is a good thing to do, be you an athlete or just a regular joe.
