So after reading that thread about another "supposed" D Day and then thinking about Yahtzee's relatively old review of Dead Island and the jokes he made at the beginning... I just got to wondering.

If you peeps had a choice, what the preferable end of the world for you?

If can be anything. Notice I didn't use a poll. I want to leave it up to you guys. Common ones? Uncommon ones. Strange ones that you didn't see threatening. Just give me any answer you'd like.

Ragnarok, end of the world in the Viking mythos. Gods and giants battling in the war to end all wars. Grab your sword and get to swingin'!

The Biblical version sounds pretty badass actually. The Earth is destroy in a battle for the heavens an all living being souls? Should be awesome. Then again, I am partial to "rocks fall, everyone dies".

Cheshire the Cat said:
Giant carnivorous bunny rabbits. The cutest of all apocalypses.
No wait, kittens that lick you to death. Even cuter and no one could fight back.
I would! I hate cats.

And I'd want the world to die off in a slow economic decline. Then we'd pick each other off in by nuking other nations who don't agree with our nation's ideals. Then the survivors of the nukes would kill all the other survivors off, because people are savage by nature. Then there would be two people, and they'd try to kill each other off.

Maybe some crazy super nova whatever that destroys the entire Earth in a blink of an eye. There'd be no hype, no warning, no pain, just poof IT'S OVER!

I'm rather fond of the idea of the earth, and everything on it, spontaneously ceasing to exist. The fun part is this could actually happen. Every passing moment there is (an extremely low) chance of everything suddenly being gone.

Hm...there are a few ways I'd actually want the world to end. The number one way would be for Unicron to come and devour the planet, while the other would be destruction by a supernova. The latter would take quite a long time, but the former would only take probably 5 minutes.

I dont want it to end because Im not a sociopath

but if it did...everyone would die from a happyness overdose (kind of like some episode of dr who where everyone used a drug called bliss and dies for some reason)

I'd have to go with the polar ice caps melting suddenly. It would flood the major coastal areas where most people reside, resulting in a massive population nosedive and possibly ocean front property for Arizona.

Other than that, Perhaps a great pandemic on par with the Black Plague? I hate people enough that I'd be more than happy to survive that one. If that one occurs, I'd like to be one of the blessed few to have a natural antibody that renders the disease useless save for barely noticeable cold symptoms.

The moon could be struck by the incoming asteroid and sent plummeting into the Earth. That could be interesting. On the other hand, something could slam into the moon and knock it away, killing the tidal motions of the ocean and killing damn near everything in it. Or the core of the planet could cool suddenly and stop the currents, along with the planet spinning completely. Then you'd end up with a nice little effect of one side roasting and the other turning into a massive hunk of ice. The ring between the two halves would still be habitable, but it depends on where that ring is that matters.

The Earth could even stop spinning for a split second. Seriously. If that actually happened, the friction of the atmosphere scraping across the surface at those speeds would incinerate the surface and everything on it.

Well, I'm thinking 5 billion years from now, the sun expanding into a red giant and engulfing the earth... We may or may not still be around at the time.

EDIT: Oh, it would be the height of irony of the Guild Wars 2 beta date was finally announced a month or two before that happened.

Actually, I'm rather fond of the Zombie Apocalypse idea. Only if it's the traditional shambling human zombies, though... dealing with fast ones or dogs or whatnot would just be annoying. No mutations either, dead things don't mutate.
