never created a thread before, and with my insomnia affecting me this just occurred to me, so i searched it and couldn't find anything at all recent.

what does a lack of sleep do to how you act and your physical health?

i find that i tend to talk/post more when tired, but not quite in the same way as i normally do. the imagination i usually try put into my posts tends to fade out a little.

in addition to this, it makes me more susceptible to sneezing. nearly 2 days sneezing constantly... it's just so irritating.

I make less sense and have less logical conversations, both on and offline, when I'm really tired. However, I'm often more talkative and I seem to post a lot more when I'm tired.

I get really cranky and touchy, my reflexes suck balls (so I'll avoid any online FPS) and my focus (for anything) is completely gone. I also get a major headache after a while. That's about it I guess, never really bothered to check it out properly. If even light sleep deprivation does that to me, I don't want to know what'll happenwhen I don't sleep for...24 hours, or something.

My record is 49 hours without a wink of sleep. It was pretty exhausting. But sometimes I would get hyperactive, couldn't sit still, 10 minutes later I would be falling asleep in my chair, just to be woken up by someone messaging me @.@

I've heard that after 50 hours without sleep you start hallucinating.

I have kids, so I'm constantly not sleeping. I get very angry, and I have to remove myself from the situation a lot and go to the basement and get on my punching bag. After a few minutes on there, I feel great. Actually, I think everyone should have one.

I start getting delusional after too long. Other than that, I'm myself, only without mental faculties and lacking in focusing ability. And I'm tired.

Even though I'm nearly dead from sleep deprivation, I usually talk more. But what I talk about is not very logical and it's more like something a kid would talk about.

Eventually you start hallucinating, its hilarious in retrospect.
Definitely. If you're with friends, it's just really funny.

Big purple bags under my eyes, my energy runs out earlier and earlier in the day and once its gone being talkative becomes nigh on impossible, but really nothing too major from a few nights bad sleep.

However i was reading a psychology book earier about the effects of sleep deprivation - As time goes on you lose the ability to learn easily, your skin condition worsens, and eventually is evidence from other mammals is consistent you lose the ability to thermoregulate your body effeciently, to the point where even constant eating will not produce enough energy to keep you going... and then you're pretty much fucked.

I get really, really tired. I think more about things and it gets even harder to annoy me.

Weirdly, too much sleep affects me far more negatively than a small amount. I sleep about five hours per night. Keeps me sharp. Any more and I can't concentrate and I feel drowsy.

Incidentally, Tony Blair is a famous 5-hours-a-night sleeper.

My brain stops functiooning at its regular capacity, which, imho is great for creativity, as it stops all of my logic and reasoning getting in the road. I also become flustered and slightly giddy.
