Me and him are very, VERY different. I'm shy, polite, generally nice, hopeless with women. He is rude, obnoxious, very confident, a heavy drinker.

He's the only friend that's truly been there from the beginning, I've never gotten angry with him, I do lose my patience sometimes but hey, nobody's perfect.

He is the 'trapped in a zombie apocalypse' companion.
Thats alot like me and my best friend, except im the rude, obnoxious, confident, heavy drinker one. Oh man I have some stories of how I pissed him off through simply being me. But, at crunch time, we're both there for each other.

My best friend and I have a Batman/Robin relationship. All the fun and ass kickery, without all the homoerotic undertones.

I read a quote a while back that I thought about and I have one friend, who fits it - which is why I refer to him as my best.

"Best friends can go days, months, years without talking but when they see each other it's like they spoke yesterday"

Goes something like that
That's pretty much it. I don't even live anywhere near my best friend. We email a bit but not much and once or twice a year his work brings him near where I live and we meet up and it is as if all the time we haven't spoken doesn't exist.

Then there is usually much Soul Calibur an Cider.

Like that guy said earlier about the don't speak for ages and when we do it's like we spoke the day before, me and my mate have that thing going on, good solid stuff.

It's a shame actually because he's a great guy, but ever since we left to go to uni, we don't speak as much anymore. What's worse, is that his university is literally half an hour away from mine, AND his girlfriend lives in Canterbury so he's here almost every weekend. I guess we probably should put a bit more effort =D
Seriously, half an hour? My best mate lives 2,100km away from me, it's a 24 hour drive.
I know, I know, it's really bad =) but we do chat a fair bit and when we get together, it's like old times. But this has inspired me to make a bit more of an effort to organise meet-ups more often =)

My best friend is my partner/ex-fiance. Sounds weird but we're currently trying to sort out some things.

X3 My best friend is awesome. That's all.

Depends. I have two.

My female best friend and I have known each other the longest, twenty-two years. We lived next door to each other as kids, went to school together, moved countries at around about the same time together... but we don't see eack other too often. Funnily enough, when we DO see each other, it's all finishing each other's sentences and eating off each other's plates. She really is the sister from another mister to me.

My male best friend is gay, but it's well-known that we are pretty much inseparable, even though I've lived in another state for over nine months now. We fly to see each other regularly and always tell the other that we love them before we hang up the phone. I think it' s a psuedo-relationship thing that makes us work, but we're pretty much polar opposites (he's a fashion-orientated guy, I'm an IT nerd girl). But for some reason, we've only ever argued the once in seventeen years and we are really great together as friends. We just work and that's pretty much it, really. :)

Simple, we both like to drink, a lot. Our friendship just grew from there, met him on my first day at work and, after chatting for a while said "hey fancy a pint this weekend".

Sounds like a cliché, but I consider my girlfriend to be my best friend, she's the only friend I share everything with and we get along great almost all the time.

My best friend and I met while I was dating one of his friends. <<;

We get along because we're so similar, and because we've known each other for so long (about 6 years, now?) that we've had time to grow closer and make memories which we can fondly look back on.

It's pretty weird though, because my friendship with him is about the only friendship I've had which has remained constant, regardless of any other changing factors. It's also survived the test of time, and of distance - having your best friend move to China isn't exactly easy, but hey, thank god for the internet! :3

We can talk to each other about love problems; we're different enough to interest each other but similar enough to have lots of things to talk about.

I have a small group of 4 good male friends. 2 of them I've known since primary school, and the other 2 we met at high school. I'm also close friends with one of my mates' girlfriend, who i've know for around 13 years. They're are going out for the third time, and being good friends with both of them can get a bit tense when they break up. It works out well, though. We all have similar tastes in games and music and movies and stuff, hardly ever argue, do all kinds of crazy stuff together.

We never see each other, ever. She lives on the other side of the city, which doesn;t sound so far, but we're so BUSY all the time.
We don't always agree, but when we do EVENTUALLY get together, we might as well have never been apart. It's great, conversations just pick up *snaps fingers* like that :3

I'm lucky in that while she's who I'd call my primary best friend, I have maybe three other's I'd call best friends too. Not least the bf.

The typical mix of slight rivalry and a deep-seated fondness and respect. Bromance, I guess. It's what happens after 10+ years.

I concur. My best friend is a girl and the only person who I feel really gives a shit about me.

I met her through my ex-girlfriend as she was her best friend and at first we didn't really hit it off. Over time we got really close through helping each other through shitty relationships and have an awful lot in common. Now we're really close and try spend as much time together as possible. When people see us together they often think we're a couple but we aren't.

I met my best friend at secondary school and well, the rest is history... We see each other at whenever possible and both make an effort to stay in touch. We have similar likes, dislikes, same sense of humour etc.

The world would be a darker place without my best friend, I absolutely treasure him ^^

I met my best friend when we were 7, we were both new kids at the school at the same time so we stuck together. Three years ago his family moved way up north and I've only had brief conversations with him through texts. He is coming to the uni I'm at so we'll see how much has changed.

I just realised how strange it is that I haven't seem him for years yet I still consider him my best friend...

We had crushes on each other (before she had convinced herself she was a lesbian), and then we sort of became best friends after much conversation on the bus.

His mother and my mother are friends so I've known him since I was about 4 or something.
He has for most of the time been the more popular one and without him I probably never would've gotten any other friends. He prefers to play sports I prefer to just read something or talk so we usually end up either
A.) He makes me go do something active despite my rejections.
B.) We just play a Video Game or watch a video and add our own commentary over it to amuse each other.
C.) He gets me to watch some movie I had no interest in but I end up enjoying it and we do something similar to that done in B.
D.) We complain about how stupid something is and make jokes about it.
We see each other usually at least 5 times a week and sometimes more when he wants to come over to my house.
He's pretty much the only person outside of my own family I'd ever trust alone with my stuff. His best friend actually moved away when we were about 7 so I'm more of a secondary to him. We occasionally poke fun at each others ethnicity (He makes fun of the English, I make fun of the Dutch).
