I do make friends easily, at first. Especially when people find out about my gender for some reason.

But then my cynical worldview turns them off. :(

I did not know these forums are mainly euro folks. So my name and avatar pretty much assure me never making any friends here.

But if people want to judge me right off via my location - let em.

*Looks at the joining date* November 27 2009 well that's a long time hanging out here and I'm here almost daily even if I don't always talk... *looks at friend's list* 0 well it seems that I'm as capable of making friends online as I am in real life.....

I don't much, mainly because I've got enough friends in real-life to talk to and I prefer talking in person, although I do have a couple of people here I occasionally chat to on more niche interests.

Most people I meet online are just single-serving friends. I talk to someone for a little while and stop. And I still technically have 0 Escapist friends. woo.

It's not that hard. A good chunk of them just really like what I said somewhere and decided to associate with me.

I'm talking on Skype to someone I met on the Escapist forums RIGHT NOW. My best friend is someone I met on Twitter and one of the people I'm in most regular contact with I met through YouTube. Trufax.

I'd like to think I'm a friendly guy : )

Has never happened on this or any other forum.
Probably has something to do with the fact that I don't actually know how to make friends, on the internet or in real life.

I've been on here since

<- then
and I haven't made a single proper friend yet that I sustain a real conversation with. I dunno why, I'm just not that forward about it, plus I don't have a huge number of interests that allow me to socialise with people with similar tastes.

Pretty easily, especially since I used to post a lot in forum games, where everyone knew each other, but I still only have a few close friends that I made by random chance.

About as easily as I do offline. In other words, I can't.

I'm generally friendly with everyone though.
ppssshhh can't isn't a word the situation.
I'm sure your perfectly capable of socialising online
(hi im matt how you doing?)
Doing OK right now I guess, although things have been getting pretty rough resently.

I have been matey with people I've met online in games like L4D, but when we part ways we never see or interact with each other again. It's a bit sad.

Edit: thanks for asking anyway, much appreciated.

Takes a while usually. Normally it's only if I set up to play a game with them, but the ones I do become friends with, I usually keep for a while.

It's hard to make something that could accurately be termed a friendship over the net, but I've made the acquaintance of some fine and respectable people on here, and enjoy being able to discuss less common areas of interest with them regularly.

Being more courteous than friendly - and at times not even that - I'll rarely get to know anyone outside such niche topics, so none too easy I suppose.

I, uh... try not to. Internet socializing only appealed to me when I was stationed overseas... but it didn't really make me any less miserable. I like my friends to be close enough to visit in the real world.

I come here to discuss things and enjoy the content, but not make friends. Its kind of pointless to me to make friends over the internet that I will never see in real life.
