how emotional have you ever been with a game?

I got a lump in my throat with quite a number of games, Gears of War 2 (I just couldn't help feeling so sorry for Dom), various Zelda games (especially WW, OoT and MM), Mass Effect and BioShock (I felt so sorry for Atlas when the sub with his family got blown up, that tug on my heartstrings, safe to say I was actually angry when...well, the people who played Bioshock know the rest) come to mind. But tears never come, never, ever. Not even when I was so depressed I almost killed myself, tears never flow over my face, not joking. It's odd, and I don't like it.

I almost cried at one point in Darwinia.

When Dr. Sepulveda explains how the soul stealers literally 'kill' Darwinians, removing them from the world, leaving only their hollow souls behind to haunt the place they were killed forever.

No other game has made me feel bad for the characters, apart from these little green dudes who are so simple they aren't even stick figures.

MGS4 and COD4. I found both of them quite emotional, at the ends. COD4 more than MGS4 but it's close.
Really? I found myself hating my fellow soldiers in CoD4 and was overjoyed when they were shot.
For me, in the case of Lt Griggs that was true, but I was sorry when Cpn Price and Gaz died.
There was no character development for anyone in CoD4. I can imagine shedding tears over the death of a character in a game were he is given a story, but not when the character is just an empty shell.

What game are you talking about?

More on topic I got pissed off in fable 2 when (Spoiler-->) they killed my dog, I mean I loved that dog and he fu@&#*$ shot it, then proceeded to shoot me anyway. I also accidentally picked the wrong choice at the end and I wasn't able to bring my furry friend back which did make me cry because I had to play it all over again to get him back (For good)

Oh, and Silent Hill 2. Major huge enormous massive gigantic spoiler.

When you find out that James killed his own wife because he couldn't put up with her condition any more, and that the game takes place just two weeks after this. The other characters' backgrounds prior to coming to Silent Hill really got me, too.

That point in GTA IV where

Roman died

as it how it played out for the first time around. Same with Mass Effect when

you had to chose between Ashley and Kaiden
.

I've been angry more times than that though, often to controller tossing levels of rage. The fields tests confirm the 360 controller is remarkably robust, being able to withstand sudden impacts with the floor and wall.

You know character development doesn't always have to consist of monologs about back story. Sometimes it can be as simple as just showing characteristics, or aspects of someone's personality.

I have cried in a total of 3 games. 2 of them were Metal Gear (2 and in 4) games and the other was in Kingdom Hearts
2 and 4 only? Surely this means you never played 3... right?

Only ever MGS4; When Otacon was explaining to Sunny that Snake wouldn't be around any more and again when the CQC hug happened (who remembers the credits and being uninterested, then seeing the name "Big Boss" and a voice actor?).
lulz, CQC hug. And yes, I think we all had the intended "WTF moment" during the credits. I nearly jumped out of my seat.

I never cried during a game (except if I'm doing badly) but I was kind of sad in KotOR when...
... Bastilla switched to the Dark Side. She was my second best character.
It wasn't that big a deal but that was the most I got into a game.

Wait, what? Gaz didn't die, he's with you during Mile High Club. =\

Most FF games did very little to me, but I wept at the end of FFX. Then they went and fucked it up with X-2. Oh, and Shadow Hearts 2 ending. Yuri, noooooo, BAAAAAWWWWWW! :'(

Never cried, but games I have got heavily involved in and felt something, at least;
Bioshock - The part with Atlas's family in the sub, such superb voice acting, and then later on with Andrew Ryan and the golf club, where I actively wanted to stop myself and felt so powerless.

Mass Effect - Choosing between Ashley and Kaiden left me feeling very "What!? Seriously?!", it really surprised me, and I hated the choice I made, as I actually liked Kaiden, just he was uselessly similar to my own character, and I needed Ashley's firepower.

Deus Ex - Several parts! Killing Gunther near the end, I really didn't want to. Also, given the choice to rescue or flee my crippled brother in Hells Kitchen, I was really quite ashamed to have fled the first play through...

Other mentions go to Gears of War 2 with Dom and Maria, and Half Life 2; Episode 2 as even though I haven't played it, I youtubed the Alyx/Eli scene and that was very powerful.

I've never cried at a game, but the scene shown when you complete the Anju/Kafei sidequest in Majora's Mask touched me deeply. In fact, the whole game was pretty much the most emotional game I've evr played - the sense of inevitability that hangs over everyone in the game makes for a powerful experience.

Well, if anger counts, then yes. Mostly Age of Conan, where the sheer griefing level of some players have caused the destruction of a couple of my belongings. Once they had me bashing my desk so hard that the bowl in front of me exploded (well, it didn't explode, but an actual explotion would have had the same effect, there were bits of bowl all over the damn place). It has also caused me to smash my spare keyboard into the doorframe so hard that buttons flew all over my room. I still find them around more than half a year later.
