I have the first Assassin Creed game and I can not really find the fun in the game and I was just curious what other fans of the series enjoyed that would make replaying it equally fun for me.

The first is'nt much fun, i recently replayed it, to refresh some stuff before i started Revelations.
Let's say the idea's and mechanics were there, the base concept.
Go Play ACII, now that is the fun you desire.

play AssCreed 2 and Brotherhood if you don't have fun with that, you don't know what fun is!

I played Brotherhood, it was tons of fun. The mutiplayer was even fun. It was like playing hide and go seek, only when you get found you get stabbed in the jaw.

Can anyone that has played Revelations tell me if it is worth picking up if you already have a backlog of games to play? I was planning on just waiting till AC4 and getting filled in on the story right before it comes out.

seconded to this guy the platforming is just solid in this series :)
Third-ed?

AC2 and Brotherhood are definately the series' highlights.

Don't even bother with Revelations. It doesn't actually reveal anything at all and it's all just pointless, boring filler.

Brotherhood's additions all seemed fun and actually added to the game. Revelations was filled with pointless padding and you're unlikely to even USE any of its new features. Plus the new setting is rendered utterly boring by the lack of any consequential narrative going on within it.

In short, don't even bother with Revelations. I wish I hadn't.

Nope you're right. AC 1 was boring as hell for me. AC 2 was where the fun began.

AC2 is a masterpiece in my opinion, ACB and ACR while not quite as good in my opinion are still fun to playthrough, Lots of people enjoy the Multiplayer too.

Frankly, I personally found AC1 really appealing for some reason. I can't even pin it down. I mean, I realise it's a glorified tech demo and, if you ask me, the game doesn't deserve more than 6/10 maybe 5/10 is closer. Still, I really enjoyed it.

But yes, I know AC2+ do offer more enjoyment. So yes, OP - go play AC2. Think of AC1 as just the tutorial level - AC2 is where the action starts.

So I have ordered the second game and will give that a go, I thank you all for your opinions.
I suppose the first AC was just lacking for me but I am sure AC2 will fill those lacking parts from AC1.

Borrow/Rent or buy AC2 and try it out. I wouldn't recommend Brotherhood or Revelations if you found AC2 boring.

Personally my favorite is Brotherhood. I found AC2 to be kinda "deep story, but still clunky mechanics" and brotherhood to be "Aw yeah baby!" on the fun-o-meter.

I found they kept changing the games just enough between each iteration that all the "works" or "does amazing" set-ups from previous incarnations no longer own and you have to discover the new working set-ups.

AC2 I got with my PS2 and I was both pretty amazed with it in general (bumping up from PS1 graphics, frame-rates, ect.) and it was pretty exciting to actually have some fun hands-on Mech game that wasn't anime influenced Gundam garbage.

But I found the PS3 generation of AC (Produced by Sega or something) were pretty crappy. Nice graphics, but the controls were shit and ruined the entire experience.

==========================================

And then I read the title and it says Assassins Creed, not Armored Core.

Assassins creed is stupid. Skip it.

Echoing what's been said above, the first game was a repetitive snooze-fest.

The second game, however, was a bajillion times better - exactly one bajillion. Just having locations that you'll recognise makes it a huge improvement, as does the increase in weapon and mission variety. Plus you can swim and there's some more variation in the combat so not everything is "hold block until you can counter". And Ezio is way more fun than Altair.

Brotherhood is more of the same with a few tweaks and additional things to faff around with, I had a lot of fun with it too. I haven't played Revelations.

You should just wait till AC3. Revelations is just filler. Brotherhood was better. All it does is end Altair and Ezio's stories. If you need more ac get it if you don't wait for 3.

It has giant mechs blowing the shit out of each other, what's not fun about that?

Oh, this is the other AC series. It's not fun, go get Armored Core.

I'm actually interested in seeing how Altair and Ezio's stories end. Is it presented interestingly enough in Revelations, or should I just look up a synopsis?

Hmm, I'm not sure. I haven't played since December. It was interesting but I'm not sure if you need the game. Altair's end is really just one memory but why he is in this position is explained by the other 5 Masayaf keys. Ezio's end is just that he went on his last great adventure and wants to settle down. Really the fun is their adventures not their ends.
