Yeah it probably would be completely impossible but a girl can dreamThe Madman said:Probably never happen unfortunately. As much as I love Dragon Age, just look at the number of recycled environments in that game compared to the Baldur's Gate games which often had you travelling to tropical pirate islands, twisted underdark passages, underwater cities, and hell itself in one questline.xXxJessicaxXx said:Can you imagine if they made a game like Baldur's Gate 2 but with this generations graphics and voice acting?. I think the world would implode with awesome.
The sheer amount of time it would take to try and craft all that in 3D plus the cost of voice acting all that dialogue would be crushing.
Nice thought though, but methinks this is one sort of game that could and would only ever work in 2D. Shame because if they ever managed to pull it off, damn, that would be pretty amazing to see the whiskers on Boos nose as Minsc charges into battle, hamster at the ready.
Rose-tinted glasses there, I think. There are plenty of fantastic RPGs from the last few years.Kathinka said:ohhh, those were the days. back when games were actually good and not some simplified, shoddy, dumped down console ports. (or, in case of fallout, oblivion with guns)
a time that is now gone..
as greatas bg1 and 2 were, i still liked planescape torment better. i'd consider it superior because of the truely brilliant story and characters. close call though.
it's true, there were good rpg's in the last few years. but...now that i think about it, exept dragon age 1 none really comes to mind...could be that i'm just forgetfull, it's 3am here^^ but i can't recall any truely great rpgs of the last few years that were not completely simplified to an agonizing extend to be playable on consoles.Hides His Eyes said:Rose-tinted glasses there, I think. As much as I loved the open free form approach of the first game and kinda missed that element in the sequel, I still feel the tighter narrative was worth the trade. Plus there's a surprising number of areas that open up through side quests, so many in fact that even playing through the game two or three times it's unlikely you'll have found everything.Hides His Eyes said:BG2 I could never get into, though. I was disappointed in how linear it was compared to the first one, and also the characters all seemed to be mages. Or clerics. Or cleric/mages. I think I met one non-magical character the whole time I played it.
Think you're thinking of the wrong Baldur's Gate.steelserenity said:On a side note: Does anyone have a PS2 or Gamecube version of the game for sale?! I cannot find it ANYWHERE, and I really wanna play it again...
or also, can anyone help me find a working ISO download?!?! I've been searching for almost two hours, and have been getting nowhere fast :S.
Boo as the only miniature giant space hamster in the gameThe Madman said:As much as I loved the open free form approach of the first game and kinda missed that element in the sequel, I still feel the tighter narrative was worth the trade. Forgotten ruined cities beneath the earth, portals to otherworldly dimensions, massive forests, besieged castles, ancient temples and so on.
Lemme see if I can remember the classes for the companions.

Paladin Inquisitor

Lotsa mage thieves. Imoen, Nalia & Jan Jan as I recall. Then you've got Korgan and Mazzy as your straight up fighters, Yoshimo as the thief, whats-his-face as the bard who I never get because he sucks and annoys me, Aerie as the annoyingly useful Cleric/Mage, good ol' Viconia your Cleric, KELDORN the paladin who rocks hardcore, guy-wanted-for-murder as the straight up ranger... or was he another ranger fighter? Can't remember. Werewolf guy is the druid, pretty handy actually especially since greater werewolf form is surprisingly powerful even if the guys stats aren't the greatest. Still prefer Jaheira though, her fighter/druid combo is as rockin as ever. Edwin as the depressingly good mage, seriously he's more powerful than the main character.
And Minsc.
Am I forgetting anyone?
Actually, that's the exact one I'm thinking of lol! That's the one I have been talking about for a good amount of this, even though i have played the PC version too.The Madman said:Think you're thinking of the wrong Baldur's Gate.steelserenity said:On a side note: Does anyone have a PS2 or Gamecube version of the game for sale?! There's the Dark Alliance series that were on consoles, and the PC Baldur's Gate series that was never released on consoles and is pretty much entirely different.
