Hello everyone,
having played New Vegas I have to admit that I absolutely love the setting and without a doubt if I ever had to choose one that would be my favorite. Ive been lurking on Steam forums for a while looking at the community hub, wondering how easy it is to get Fallout 3 to work on a modern pc and I have to admit that Im confused. Some people say its working well, others say that after days theyre still stuck.
So, fellow escapists, did you manage to run it on your pc? How hard was it? Im just scared of wasting 20 euros, thats all.

My pc:
Windows 7 Home Premium; 64-bit;
8 GB RAM;
Intel Core i7;
Nvidia Geforce 610M 2GB;

Thanks in advance.
you have a pretty similar setup to myself, aside from the graphics card, and it works perfectly for me. i used to have a constant crashing error on my old pc, but that was in 2008 and my pc was already a couple of years old, so likely a hardware problem.

also, wait till friday? i expect steam will do a black friday sale, and chances are it'll go up at something silly like 75% off

fyi get the GFWL disabler so you don't have to have that POS running to play. Nexusmods ftw. I actually found you also could take the Windows registry entry that starts Steam out and I could just play the game without all that stuff running.

You must sacrifice your firstborn child on the 29th of February when there is a full moon. Pray to your spirit guardians, and you will receive instructions on what to do with your offering, if you are deemed worthy. After you perform the ritual, you will be visited by the soul-eater. He will lead you into the Forest of Darkness. Stay close, and you may survive to find the Tree of Optimization. State your request, but speak no words. Only then may you run this game.

In all seriousness, I haven't the faintest. It hasn't run on any computer I've ever owned, no matter the tweaking, modding, poking or prodding. After a few hours I managed to get it to work past the intro video, but the longer I play it the less stable it gets. First crashes are a few hours apart, then 15 minutes, then 5, then every couple of seconds. It is not a game us mortals were meant to toy with.
