How has Gordon Freeman not broken/lost his glasses yet?

Something that I or any other glasses user can attest to is that making sure our glasses remain in place and untarnished is an unending task. Yet here we have a man that regularly gets shot at, stands next to large explosions (which are more than capable of shattering glass), swims, and takes terrible falls. Yet, as evidenced by both the fact that he can still see properly and by practically every piece of art work related to him, Gordon Freeman still has a pair of usable glasses.

How? I'm seriously puzzled by this.

Black Mesa must have created the Indestructible Glasses before that whole alien-incursion incident.

Indestructible Glasses courtesy of Mann. Co.!

In my opinion, his glasses aren't stupid enough to fall off of his head.

Lol - Gordon Freeman is actually an empty shell by now. His glasses, on the other hand, are sentient beings capable of controlling humans to their own ends. Gordon Freeman happened to be the lucky guy. Come to think of it, that would also explain why he never talks, or makes any acknowledgement of anything at all beyond KILLKILLCRUSHCRUSH.

That's why they don't fall off.

I'm pretty sure he just uses a very small pair. They're so tight around his head that they never come off. Though, I think they might be too tight. For all we know, that's the reason he's mute.

Glasses are for modelling...
This. He put in contacts when he boarded the tram at his dormitory, and the G-man (magically?) put contacts in his eyes when he came out of stasis. As for the time when the Vorts saved him, well...I got nothing.

I totally want to see Valve make a faux commercials together for those. Too bad it probably won't happen. :(

His glasses are made from the same material that makes the environment indestructible.

Retractable helmet. No other way to explain oxygen supply, HUD and radiation protection.

those glasses have seen what he can do with a crowbar, they wouldn't dare fall off his head.
or maybe the resonance cascade altered them and now they stay attached by a strange energy field in close proximity to his head.

The glasses are actually surgicaly attached to his skull. Black Mesa insists on this for health and saftey reasons such as avoiding them being dropped into an anti-mass spectrometer or a teleporter mix up putting them inside your lungs.

The glass is made from similar technology to bullet-proof glass, only lighter and thinner. This is patented by Black Mesa, and could be seen frequently in the newer areas of the facility.

As to why he never loses them: they are designed to counterbalance external pull to keep their centre of gravity on the head and simulate a momentum towards the origin whenever a force would suddenly create one against it. Essentially, it's built with adept knowledge of theoretical physics to abuse real-world physics, always moving into its precalculated position regardless of where gravity would normally pull it.

And you people thought Freeman never practised his science in the games...

An enemy cut from the beta would knock the player's glasses off and then tentacle-rape you in a deliberate provocation of teenage homophobia. No joke.

They're made of a titanium alloy with microscopic thin cables that connect directly into his head and brain, to go along with the massive tightness they have.
The very name is misleading, for they have not a single piece of glass.
Instead, the lenses are made of an advanced acrylic, with 2 layers of very light tint on either side which help to make them even stronger.

That's the basic structure, though. The real improvements come with their on-board computers and extra systems. They have a built in HUD, which you as the player can see and which is enhanced with a mental link that provides exceptional reaction time, as well as a small device which can extend down and out from the bottom of the lenses, which covers the nose and provides a small amount of oxygen when needed.
Radiation is dealt with by the same microscopic wires that go into his head, releasing massive amounts of Potassium iodide as well as small amounts of Morphine and an unnamed substance developed specifically for the devices, which boosts the bodies regenerative capability by up to 400%, and strengthens the heart to the point where it can become almost twice as strong and long lasting as a normal human heart, helping to prevent death.

The glasses are in fact stronger than the human body, and orders of magnitude more expensive than the humans life they are attached to.

This.
I always assumed there was a retractable helmet, and only fairly recently did other peoples' comments make me go, "Hey, they never DID mention a helmet specifically."
It must be a godsend for the headcrabs.

Really, though, he has to have some kind of adhesive to keep the glasses from falling off after all that.
